I had an MOT booked for 10:00am on the 18th (reference: A213B050618), along with a Winter Check booked under a separate reference number. When I visited the store this morning, I was informed that my MOT was either cancelled or not booked. I had taken a day off work specifically for this appointment, as I am travelling to Scotland this weekend and the MOT was a priority. I was asked to leave my car for the Winter Check and wheel balancing and collect it later. As I am travelling from Wokingham and not local, I said I would prefer to wait, but I was told no timeframe could be provided. The staff member then suggested moving the Winter Check and wheel balance to the Wokingham branch. I agreed, and those appointments were transferred accordingly. After returning home, I raised a complaint regarding the MOT, as it had been cancelled without any notification, causing unnecessary travel, loss of a day’s leave, and disruption to my pre-Christmas travel plans. Following this, I was informed that a staff member had made a counter-complaint alleging that I was rude. I strongly deny this. I was understandably upset due to the situation, but I remained polite and professional throughout the interaction. There are CCTV cameras in the store, as well as other customers present in the waiting area, which would support this. I am extremely disappointed with how this matter was handled. Cancelling an MOT without informing the customer, and then responding to a legitimate complaint by making an unfounded accusation, is unprofessional and unacceptable. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to this branch and would advise customers to ensure conversations are documented to avoid similar situations.

Extremely Disappointed – Avoid Halfords Autocentre Sandhurst I took my car to Halfords Autocentre Sandhurst on 4th March 2025 for a tyre replacement. When I returned, the car had sustained damage to the cill due to incorrect lifting of the vehicle. I have clear photographic evidence that my car was undamaged before the service, and I was able to replicate the damage in the same spot, proving it occurred at their garage. Even worse, Halfords claim to take 6 photos before and after every job. While the before photos clearly show no damage, the after photos were mysteriously blanked out or missing, making it impossible to assess the car’s condition post-service. When questioned, the manager admitted this was unacceptable and claimed the staff member responsible had been reprimanded – yet they continue to deny any responsibility. They also confirmed their CCTV cameras do not record, so there’s no additional footage to review – a huge red flag for any reputable garage. Despite giving them time to respond and offering a chance to resolve the matter amicably, I’ve received no resolution or compensation. I am now escalating this to Halfords Head Office, the Motor Ombudsman, Trading Standards, and pursuing the matter through the Small Claims Court. I’ve also obtained an independent assessment to confirm the damage was caused during the tyre replacement. I strongly urge anyone considering using this garage to think twice. This experience has shown a complete lack of accountability and transparency.

Was told I could drop my car off to get a wheel bearing fixed, this morning went to drop my car off and a young guy in the desk first thing he came out with was “I don’t know what I’m doing, I don’t know how to use the computer” and your not booked in! Left completely shocked at the lack of customer service and the attitude as well! Glad I didn’t get my car fixed here now
