Be aware it can be noisy at night but the rooms and position are brilliant. Would highly recommend if noisy partying isn't too much of an issue.

We visited for the pub (and the Titanic history connections), which we loved! Their ciders and Guinness were all delicious. We loved saying Hello to the friendly pub cat! Titanic history enthusiasts might have read that this is the known pub where several Titanic crew members were rumored to have overspent their times with pints and missed boarding the Titanic on April 10, 1912. This is a short walking-distance from the dock where that Titanic departed from (though it’s not accessible to the public).

We came yesterday and haven't checked out yet but feel the need to review now. Rooms are great value for money, everything and more you need is provided.. Out in the corridor in front of the rooms are razors, books, games, sellotape ect. You want for nothing. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Prices in bar good prices. Great location. Plenty of bars and restaurants all next to each other. The only downside is the stairs. Very narrow and steep. If you are young and fit they would be ok but as an unfit oldie not great. Would definitely stay here again. Well worth it

Fantastic stay! We stayed at The Grapes for one night before our cruise from Southampton docks and it was amazing. The staff are so friendly that we ended up staying there all day and night! The bed was so comfortable and the price was incredibly reasonable for the area. The location is fantastic on a quiet street lines with bars and restaurants with tables outside which we made use of with the weather. We are already talking about planning another trip to Southampton to stay here again.

One of the few 'proper' pubs left that end of town. The landlord even has takeaway menus available from food joints in Oxford Street, so he helps support them, whilst you can have a bit to eat whilst still in the boozer! Rooms upstairs are very clean and comfortable and have everything you need for a comfortable overnight stay. Good local crowd too.

Popped in for some drinks with friends. It's quite small, really loud and I paid £4 for half a pint of lemonade, I only paid 50p more for a cocktail later that evening elsewhere. It was also overcrowded.

We have used this hotel several times as my husband goes every week to Southampton for work. This week we tried to cancel a booking three days in advance, since my husband was in an accident with a broken shoulder, could not walk let alone travel, and had to cancel his trip. They changed us 100% cancellation fee, it is just unacceptable, and we will not be coming back again!

Stayed over night in a single room here. Small entrance hall with roomy en suite, good size shower cubicle, sink & toilet shiney and clean , fully tiled with non slip floor. Well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and body wash, as well as fluffy soft towels. The room was very clean , pristine white cotton bedding on the bed , two good pillows as well as warm duvet. Plenty of storage, small built in wardrobe , chest of drawers and bedside drawers. Thick curtains to help block out light as well. Good size television with remote control easy to use. Well stocked tea tray, with bottled water as good addition. Slept very well, room quiet bed very comfortable. Heater warmed room up quickly in morning when I turned it on. Definitely will come back again .

The hotel itself is a bit tired but very nice. It’s located over the pub, so expect that it will be noisy until 22. But I need to state that during the night it was very quiet. In the room I stayed there was no sound proof from the street at all. The room was quite cosy, had everything you need for a stay, bed was comfortable and clean.
