Usually go to the pear tree (same group) had starters there, amazing. Quick drive to spondon, same glorious food. No curry gets close, great job guys!
I was not sure what to expect as everyone I know who go to "Mixies" have never really explained what a mixed grill entails and what the food is like. I thought it was a plate of sausages, bit of steak, lamb chop/pork chop, grilled mushroom etc. I now know why they visit a "Mixie" so often and why my son drives from Berkshire to the Midlands with his cousins and friends! I am a true convert. The food was amazing! The mixed grill we ordered was substantial - four between ten of us. I thought I was stuffed....but then members of the group talked about getting some curries....I could not refuse! It was a delight! The staff were so friendly and the addition of the DJ (the night we attended - not sure that is common every Saturday night) was the icing on the cake. Great food, great atmosphere, good drink on tap. What more could you ask for?!
FOOD: The food here is absolutely amazing never had a curry as nice as it from here. Definitely reccomend 1 rice and 1 chips between 2 people even 1 curry between 2 people is enough, the naan bread is absolutely amazing. Service: service for the food is brilliant, quick and simple. The server at the bar Jess was extremely nice and made us feel at home.
We heard about this place and paid it a visit and we wasn’t disappointed. Great menu, lovely staff and just a really good place to visit.
Stopped here for lunch and glad we did as the food was amazing. The food was cooked very traditionally and tasted fantastic. You need to buy drinks at the bar and then pay and order your food at the kitchen window in the corner. The place is decorated well inside but the toilets could do with being refurbished also. All in all very pleased and wish this new business well in the future keep up the amazing cooking.

Nice big old place. Has a function room that seems to be booked most weekends. Big parking area as well as outside seating. Nice kids play area in a secure garden. This pub is a bit of track but don't let that put you off. Also serves food.
This is our second visit different staff same attention to detail, our waitress tonight was Megan she should run a college course on customer service, and teach people how to treat customers, don't know the name of our waitress last week but she was also excellent. Food really good and well presented, compliments to the chef, we eat out about twice a week, and a lot of places could learn from the canal turn. Keep up the good work,"we'll be back.lovely dinning experience.
Just had a truly excellent meal. Very welcoming attentive staff, fast service, lovely warm surroundings, would definitely recommend and go again .
Good food with decent sized portions. Recently refurbished to a high standard, the staff were very welcoming.
