   As a complete lighting and electrical novice. I went in with a LED light unit to be replaced and I had a great patient and helpful service that has helped me install a light. My old had 3 wires the new was 2 and they helped and I now have a working lighting circuit.

   Been using Hedge End Screwfix over 5 years and nothing has ever been too much trouble at the retail counter. These staff appear to work hard for customers and always with a smile or "have a good day" as you leave. However, even as an account holder I find the trade counter staff miserable and there's a definite uncomfortable feeling in the air. Not the youngsters mind, you can see that they'd rather be elsewhere and who could blame them.

   Customer service excellent. I bought two tins of deck paint, but didn't like the colour. Took the unopened one back. They were happy to swap it, but didn't have the colour I wanted in stock. They went to the trouble of locating it at a nearby branch and arranged for me to collect at no cost. Went out of their way to help me. Absolutely brilliant. I always use them as first port of call. Always made to feel welcome.

   Strange, little 'reception/serving area. Only has 4 touch screen, self service points (only 3 were working). But the actual staff are efficient, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. My particular request wasn't available in here so I was directed to B&Q. Parking can be difficult as spaces are at a premium. Would be nice if they offered some seating or refreshments in the waiting area...but as I say...it really is tiny. It is for this that I only give 4*.
