Very basic hotel with dated furniture. Shared toilet and shower room. They need to improve cleanliness and get some new furniture. Only positive is that it's the cheapest hotel in Reading.

Staff was nice and kind, but rooms are a little dated and cleanliness aspects could be improved... Is ok as a last minute booking for just passing out for the night and jetting off the next day.

The receptionist James was a very helpful, lovely and delightful person. However, when we entered the room there were used cotton buds (including ear wax) left on top of the bin bag. There was a dirty sock on the fire alarm and lighters and other junk found down the side of the bed. Even found drug baggies in the room. We have photo evidence of this, and will be presenting them to the appropriate authorities. The following morning, we were met with abruptness. The people on shift, on the 20th September 2025 at around 11:30 were just terrible with customer service. No manners, extremely patronising behaviour and taking photos of us without our permission. We believe this behaviour occurred because we are a same sex couple. See you in court.

When i arrived at the property, the outside was very dirty and looked rundown. The room door looked as if it had been kicked in previously, as i entered there was an empty mcdonalds bag and bottles/cans of stella on the side, clearly from a previous guest. The bed sheet had a dried contact lens on it, with the duvet cover had several stains on it. The bathroom smelled of urine and had sticky floors, thankfully there was a bottle of bleech next to the toilet, which i used with soapy water. Drying the floor with the white shower matt, which came up black....... The entire hotel was in serious need of a refurb, the staff and owner clearly have no pride and no desire to improve. I most definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The service was excellent, stayed recently for a festival event and was delighted with the local receptionists knowledge of the area. Bar area is also lovely and great value like the rest of the hotel, overall brilliant area and great value! Thanks

Was good value for money, was a bit of Misunderstanding as I thought the price Included breakfast. So had to pay for the breakfast. It is a pity they have not got A bedside cabinet at the side of the bed.

Staff seemed friendly but I left my fitbit there by accident. I sent a self addressed envelope with a letter asking for proof of posting so that I knew they had posted it as promised. A month later, the fitbit hasn't arrived. They have told me to be patient as there are postal strikes but I don't think stuff is taking a month to arrive. They didn't get proof of posting so they're unable to prove that they posted it. It also means that the post office won't compensate me. As far as I am aware, they are now liable for the cost of the fitbit because, if they did post it, the poster remains responsible until the package arrives. They have not offered me any compensation! For a cheap hotel, with a lumpy bed, it ended up costing me a lot of money.

All staff members are so friendly and helpful. I had to wake Garrah up at 4am when I popped out for a ciggy. I was so surprised to get a sweet smile as he let me in. Not sure that I could keep up such wonderful customer service at that time in the morning. Nothing is too much for these guys. I feel safe knowing that they are around and the lady that works at night, Annemarie, is so welcoming and kind and cooks an amazing breakfast. This is an old hotel and the decor is not modern but it has character and the wonderful staff make it a great place to stay .

Booked by my employer for week of stay. First night within hour of check in sorry I cannot stay here. It smells and is so dated and run down. Deserves a 1 star certainly not 3. Also electrical sockets hanging off walls. Probably one of the worst places I've seen

Rooms need updating as not great for today's needs. Parking is good. Limited choice at the bar but a good price. It was the staff that made this hotel.
