Genuinely disgusting. Bathroom stinks of a mixture of urine and wet socks. This smell fills the bedroom overnight and you donβt notice is until you leave and enter back into the room. Iβve left the hotel with a new dose of mould growing in my lungs. Iβd avoid the place like the plague. Because honestly, it might be ground zero for the next one

I recently stayed at this hotel and these were my thoughts. Positives: - Very good heating system, the heating comes on quickly once you adjust it and it stays on for a long time - Hotel rooms are spacious - The hotel receptionists are friendly and pay considerate attention to you - It's located very close to the high street so shops are not hard to get to Negatives: - Bathroom is unclean and looks outdated as does the hotel itself - There were towels that had stains on them when I arrived before I used any myself - The hotel was noisy a lot of the time with people watching television at loud volumes late in the night or people talking loudly in the corridors. Also the hotel room doors would creak whenever they are opened which was loud enough to wake me up from sleep - On day of checking out cleaners will knock on your door at 12 PM sharp to remind you that you need to leave as if you didn't know already and as mentioned earlier it's not as if they do a good job with cleanliness anyway so it makes you wonder what they even do to require that level of pushiness. - The walls in the hotel rooms are thin so it's easy to hear whatever is going on in the rooms next to you - The pillows were quite hard and the bed wasn't too comfortable So in summary you would be better off looking for an alternative option in Reading.

TV was drilled right next to the window, so couldn't even open the window properly on a hot day. Asked about parking at reception and the lady did not communicate to us properly, leaving us to trawl around for an hour for a car park, only then to be told about the parking partnership with Q park with the discount. The bathroom door did not shut properly. Complained to the manager who told us he will respond, but never received any response. Although location was very good, I don't recommend this place, nor would I stay here again.

Family room. Very good location. The bedroom itself is fine. No plug sockets next to the beds, no air con but 2 fans provided, the window doesn't properly open so not a lot of ventilation, desk and wardrobe space is fine, lighting fixtures etc quite dusty. The reason I am rating so low overall is the bathroom, broken toilet seat, dirty and scummy marks on the base of the bath and on the walls above it, the bath is really narrow in width so difficult to turn and very slippery despite them putting down non slip mats, which were also quite dirty. Can hear traffic at all times of night even with the window closed. The staff were nice. Overall the hotel did what we needed it to do and the location is great but I wouldn't stay here again.

Having been staying here for sometime now, I can't fault any of the staff that work here. Everyone is extremely professional and very friendly and have always been helpful to me. Rooms are basic, but very clean. Cleaners are always around and supply clean towels, tea and coffee etc when required. Excellent location

Awful place. Dirty and tired. No access for the disabled as the lift is not working so my elderly mother had to struggle up the stairs and leave her wheelchair. Would have gone elsewhere if it wasn't so dark and wet outside. Then our rooms were disgusting. Tried to contact Travelodge and was ignored. So my advice is stay well away from this place

Stayed for two nights.Fabulous location but the Penta Hotel across the road looks ten times better. The room was a nice size, the bed was clean the bedding had marks on but had been laundered, no housekeeping was carried out I would have liked the bin emptied and tea coffee facilities replenised, we had to go to reception. The bath, taps and shower was filthy and stained, I asked at reception for it to be cleaned but it did not happen. We just stood in it and held the shower head, the water was hot. No beakers in bathroom, soap dispensers empty, shower curtain should be binned, oh towels were OK.

Modest and unassuming translates as: mouldy, dated and unappealing. Luke-warm welcome at reception, no working lift so impossible for anyone with mobility issues to access rooms, dodgy handles on room doors, no hot water, awful water pressure, toilet didn't flush, water from shower runs all over bathroom floor, broken soap dispenser, moulding bath silicone, dirty mirrors and no temperature controls in rooms. Bed comfortable and decent pillows.

This hotel is feeling very tired. The staff were friendly while we were there, so I canβt fault them, and there was nothing wrong as such, butβ¦ - The rooms that face the main dual carriageway road are very noisy. - The lift wasnβt working. - The extractor fan in the bathroom wasnβt working. - The bathroom feels very worn out. - The soap dispensers were either broken, empty, or both. - The entire hotel feels like itβs long overdue a huge amount of money to improve it. If you just need a basic place to stay for a night itβs fine. Donβt expect miracles.
