A refined countryside retreat with a strong sense of space and calm from the moment you arrive. The setting is the real standout—elevated grounds with sweeping views over the Thames, beautifully kept gardens, and a building that feels grand without being intimidating. Public areas are elegant and quiet, ideal for switching off rather than being entertained. The spa facilities are well laid out and relaxing, with a peaceful pool area and a generally unhurried atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable and tastefully finished, leaning toward classic rather than modern, which suits the character of the property. Service is polite and professional throughout, present when needed but never intrusive. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a relaxed break focused on scenery, tranquillity, and understated luxury rather than bustle or nightlife.

One of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of staying at. A charming timeless place to escape. The facilities, rooms, food and drink are all excellent and the staff and service is exceptional We were looked after at world class level. This is as good as any 5 star hotel i’ve stayed in, if not better. The massage we had at the Illuminata spa was probably the best i’ve ever had - the actual spa itself is beautiful. We will definitely return. One area that needs work are the treatment rooms in spa - felt a bit dated and in need of refurbishment. Other than that can’t fault anything.

Can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. The rooms were spacious, had fireplace, bathrobes, and canopy bed. It's an absolutely gorgeous hotel with beautiful gardens and grounds. They hosted our work meetings and did a superb job. The hotel is accessible from London but far enough out to experience a slower pace of life and connect with nature. The breakfast options and service was top notch. Only a short drive or Uber to downtown Marlow for shopping, restaurants, movies (The Everyman theater was a unique moviegoing experience). The hotel is very spread out, and takes a little while to learn to navigate it, but part of the fun was exploring and getting lost. This is a hotel I would highly recommend.

My wife and I spent 2 nights here for our anniversary. The place is immaculate, our bags were taken to our room for us, and we had an anniversary card and chocolates waiting, which was unexpected. The staff were all absolutely lovely and the whole experience was pretty much faultless. Even the hotel cat was friendly. Compared to similar trips we've done elsewhere, we thought Danesfield was better than most. It's pricey for sure, but you do get what you pay for. The food was excellent, the spa was very clean, good sized pool (and warm!) and we enjoyed exploring the grounds too. The view from the gardens is uninterrupted; there's not even a pylon in sight, and the view over the Thames is beautiful.

The setting is beautiful and the ground lovely. Food is OK. Unfortunately my son (teenager) was sick in the night on the floor. My husband rang down to reception but there was no answer. He tried the best he could to clean up, but we still recieved a £200 cleaning bill. The room my daughter and I shared was too hot, the radiator was set to boiling and there was no way to adjust it. The shower above the bath didn't work. The toilet was blocked. As we only stayed one night I reported all this to housekeeping in the morning but we were not there long enough for it to be rectified. (I was not in the same room as my husband and 2 boys - their room had a separate lounge and a great view of the Thames.) The spa area was great. Good size pool and lovely view over the garden.

Lovely overnight stay at this historic hotel and spa. The staff were all so friendly and Franklyn was exceptional in his welcome when we checked in. Breakfast was delicious and all freshly cooked and served to you (rather than a buffet). Lovely views and grounds and good location. Spa was clean and comfortable. We will definitely return in the future.

My wife and I visited this establishment for Valentines day this year and whilst we felt the Dinner was disappointing we were bowled over by the welcome we received from Franklyn. He was extremely professional and was a complete breath of fresh air after a 2 hour journey on the M25. The rooms were generous and clean and the Hotel is certainly a feast for the eyes if you like historical buildings. We will definitely return in the summer so we can enjoy the grounds more when its warmer. We would have left 3 stars had it not been for Franklyn's attentiveness and knowledge, he really bowled us over. In fact we have to say that all the staff were extremely polite and professional, you are lucky to have such a polished team.

Went to celebrate our engagement and very disappointed with the service. Although the room was large, it was very cold with no extra blanklets or adequate heating. Food was delicious (when it arrived). Spa was good and views from the hotel were lovely. We won't be returning.

The staff are many, efficient and you feel really well cared for. The views from the terraces and garden are lovely. We'd booked a classic room, definately worth upgrading from that if you can. Spa is lovely, had a fab facial, wonderful outdoor sun terrace there too. They'd had a wedding on the night before so when I went for an early morning swim and had the pool completely to myself. Heaven. Dinner there £55 for 3 courses was outstanding.
