   I've come late to do this review but someone needs to speak up about the medical sexism in this hospital. I was on the verge of sepsis, fever of nearly 40°, positive blood cultures, agonising pain in my abdomen. Sweating like crazy. Things were ok, until the end, i heard a surgeon mutter "it must've been her period" wth??? What kind of period causes positive blood cultures. I felt humiliated and i hope no woman is shut down like that again

   I went derby royal hospital (May, wasn’t going to post but seeing others, it’s a regular occurrence that needs seeing to) as I had severe chest pains. They left me in A&E for 4 hours before i was seen. When they did an ECG i was crying from pain and the doctor said ‘stop crying, boys don’t like to see girls cry, you’ll make him cry’ my bf was in the room with me. Then gave me morphine as it would ‘stop the pain’, it didn’t. Told i would be given another ecg an hour later. I wasn’t. 3 hours passed and we asked about it, turns out said doctor didn’t tell anyone. Then took another 3 hours to get the ecg. Sat in a room with other patients for then another 9 hours, i had my blood pressure taken once as someone had taken my name off the records, bloody brilliant. had a blood test about 7 hours into this whole thing, it was the roughest one i’d ever had. they told me i had to wait for the results, perfectly fine, was told results were fine, then said the blood isn’t good emojgh and would have to wait another 2 hours for a result. i’d been there for around 15 hours at this point, no sleep and no food, so asked if i could go home and wait for results over call. they said ‘you can but if somethings wrong with your bloods you could die’. Nice telling a 20 year old with anxiety. I went home, and then they said results weren’t good enough neither was blood, so we went back and got another test. same happened with all the people in the waiting room. had a blood test, which i will say was the best experience out of all of this, it was a student doctor who treated me like a human and it was completely painless. got my results after another 3 hours and then got told ‘it’s a pill you’re on’ which we’d asked when we first got there, and they said it wasn’t. turns out in the end, they were wrong and it was something to do with my arterial wall. got sent home, with paracetamol. gave me no painkillers after the morphine until 10 hours had passed despite asking for them, because they kept forgetting. this hospital was a new place for me and as a uni student away from home, this was absolutely horrific. also as the morning staff came in, the night staff didn’t tell them anything about my situation so was forgotten again. my parents travelled to the hospital, and they were met with disrespect, when asking what was going on as i was left.

   Big shout out to the guy in the plaster room today, he went above and beyond. With a broken wrist and being put in plaster on Monday my 12 year old decided to scratch it with a pen and the lid got stuck in his plaster. He stayed beyond his normal hours to re plaster for us an was great with our son- thankyou and totally appreciated

   Had an appointment today at 13.15, got to the hospital at 12.30 which gave me 45 mins to get a parking space, one in one out barrier system, finally got through the barrier at 12.54 but there was one car already waiting for a space after being let through the barrier, chaos, someone had parked so selfishly also so you couldnt get next to them. I left then and didnt attend my appointment at the spinal outpatients as I had been in my car over an hour and half & my leg went numb! I know the hospital warns you about parking but at least get the barrier system correct so you arent let in thd carpark if there are no spaces.

   Modern building on the edge of the city centre. Parking is reasonable at £3 for up to 90 minutes. If you need to park for longer, say because of a long wait in A&E the staff will stamp your parking ticket and it is then free. As with most hospitals, a long wait to be seen/admitted, but when it’s your turn the care is exemplary. Staff . The doctors,nurses etc. All very helpful,friendly people. The food is way better than‘hospital’ food. The facilities are great, although the coffee shop on the hospital grounds is a bit expensive ( as always)

   I needed to go to Day Surgery for a minor operation. Ms Wilkinson and her team, who looked after me on Monday were all fantastic. I wish to thank them all for the great care and attention they gave me. You all do a brilliant job, keep up the good work.

1. Keep it PG ★☆☆☆☆

   I went to the emergency department because of a cyst that I had in my leg that was infected and needed a small surgery. I spend all day since 8 am to 7 pm , 11hours to be seen by a doctor . They put me in a bed I don’t know for what when I was waiting , it means that I didn’t eat or drink water during that time . Never they offer me any food . I eventually give up of waiting for the doctor and I had to come next day 7 am to the urgency department again . Near the same waiting time . I really don’t understand why such a simple procedure can’t be done in the GP or a walking centre . And when I had the surgery done after waiting for near 18 hours in total they give me a full anaesthesia , why just why , are they mad , this hospital need a full investigation because things don’t look right in there .Imagine be put to sleep for a cyst of a hair follicle infection . They all need to have their heads tested .

   Arrived for 9am for my partner to have a chest scan. We were booked in very quickly and had the scan very soon after. Unfortunately there seemed to he a lack of staff to see to us after that. We had to wait a further 3hrs for the results during this time a little old lady had asked to be taken to the toilet twice and was ignored finally the doctor called my partner in and said the results were not through yet and he would ring my partner at home.why could this not have been an option at the beginning of the appointment? o

   Made a quick trip here and I was impressed by its size. Loved the many art works found along their corridors. The stunning view from the 5th floor is unforgettable. I love the fact I could park very close to the main entrance in car park 8.
