Nipped in after a hike for some drinks, a nice pub spoiled by the lady at the bar (landlady?) who is simply discourteous, rude and should not be in the hospitality industry. We will not be returning.

Great experience here! There was 9 of us celebrating my 21st. We had a variety of meals and were all very satisfied. I had the steak and ale pie, which I would definitely recommend. All the food was hot, reasonably priced and very tasty. Decent selection of ales and beers on and wine list is pretty extensive aswell. Proper traditional pub! Can't fault it.

One of the best pub meals I’ve had in the UK in a while. Tried the steak and ale pie and it was killer — homemade pastry, tender meat, great mash. Also tried the sausage trio. The treacle pudding (steamed cake) was one of the best deserts I’ve ever had in the UK

Beautiful pub with excellent food. Highly recommend. The menu is great and is difficult to choose from. I had the Roast beef Sunday lunch which was delicious and the best I’ve ever had. Hands down. I’ve had a few! Husband had the salmon. Loved it but I think he was secretly gutted he didn’t have the Sunday lunch. Desserts were lovely. Treacle sponge with custard and Chocolate brownie. Yummy.

Just spent two nights at this pub to celebrate a good friends 70th birthday staying nearby. It's a quintessentially English pub in a small village. The owner and his wife were perfectly friendly and welcoming as opposed to the opinions of some reviews on here. People so often deflect their own social inadequacies onto others which is sad but very common human failing. The food we had was superb and we were made very welcome. The room we stayed in was clean warm comfortable and well equipped too. I would recommend this place to anyone apart from the socially inept and those thinking they should be treated in a special way to assuage their inflated egos.

The Red Lion is an old English pub with the advantage of serving excellent food. Christmas started on the evening of the 23rd with a lovely family gathering for a meal. All the food was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed and also the beers. Hospitality was welcoming and cheerful.

I use this pub as a source of refreshment on a published walk. Visited to check details still correct. Impressed with food and beer choices offered and prices. Food well cooked and adequate portions. Will keep on list for return visits.

The menu choice is great. Caters for everyone. The quality was very good too. A friendly place that I'd highly recommend. My dogs were welcome too. I'll be going back again next time I'm in the area

Nice, friendly pub with excellent home cooked food made from locally sourced ingredients (the figs for the sticky pudding came from next door!). Good beer, and they make their own cider. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. A good pub for walkers - great area for countryside.
