   Another great stay at YHA Ilam. The room was clean, comfortable with a handy portable heater to use instead of the underpowered radiator. The staff are invariably friendly and always helpful. The kitchen is more than enough for self-catering and plenty of room for storing food. The two lounge areas were decorated for Christmas, which created a nice atmosphere. The location remains outstanding and one of the main reasons we love coming here. It's just a great place to stay.

   Had a great stay here for alton towers the following day, honestly amazed how good it looked and nice everyone was. Was a little windy getting there but worth it when you get there! Great views and tad spooky feel at night lol

   YHA walking event with Andrew Had a great day. Good to have a coffee on arrival to set up for walkers. Plenty of room to meet and greet in the dining area. Only one toilet handy though so it meant a bit of a cue. Resources - great to have radios available for walk as internet not reliable Andrew and rest of staff friendly and helpful Overall well organised event. Thank you for the free cuppa and cake at the end.

   We only saw the ground floor as we were taking part in the YHA walking programme - Nordik walking - and met there and finished there with coffee and cake. The staff were lovely, downstairs dining room, reception and lounge all comfy looking. The architecture is impressive. I bet a stay there would be lovely. They offer breakfast and evening meals if you want to be looked after rather than cook your own meals.

   Amazing YHA. Stunning location in amazing manor. Very clean and reasonably priced. Amazing location for walks in the Peak District. Very kids friendly. Food is simple but good. Super friendly and helpful staff. Can recommend! Have stayed here several times now.

   Great location with an unexpectedly beautiful building and surroundings. Hikers friendly and friendly staff. Will highlight again that there is no WiFi or phone coverage, so make sure you download all the maps you may need!

   We enjoyed our night here. This was our first time actually staying at Ilam Hall after visiting the area many times. We had a room with a private bathroom. The room was clean and basic but exactly what we expected after staying with YHA before. The location is wonderful and the views stunning. The staff here are great too. Very welcoming and friendly.

   We stayed here a s a couple. We had a room to ourselves with its own bathroom. We weren't expecting much as it is a YHA place but was pleasantly surprised. the staff are amazing. we forgot to set an alarm and so missed breakfast BUT they had put some aside for us so we could have something before the days walking. top marks for that. We will most likely stay here again as its so close to a lot of different things to do.

   Rooms absolutely spotlessly clean. This was a two night stay that was a great getaway no phone signal yes that's right the children actually enjoyed not being connected. Instead it helped them reconnect to each other. WiFi on communal area this free. Breakfast fresh and delicious we had continental. Views are lovely this should be on your bucket list. This place has left me with wonderful family memories that money can't buy. If you love the outdoors then you will like it here too.

   Staff are fantastic. Great balance of age range amongst them and they were always super friendly, plsd to say hi and always willing to help with random questions even though clearly busy. The place itself is set in grounds that the kids loved. Breakfasts and meals were good and the kitchen downstairs was well set up, but busy when we visited. Certainly not helped by a larger family group 'reserving' a set of two tables in the self catering dining , thus halving the available places for over two hours. However, there's lots of space outside of the weather is fine. Will definitely return.
