Hostel in Derby

“I’ve completed two long weekends worth of training at Shining Cliff and have been based at the hostel for both. A decent walk into the incredible woods, this lovely little hostel gives you everything you need to move out into the wild just enough to immerse yourself in nature. Kate looks after the hostel and a lot of the woodland facilities. There is so much love and care taken with the management and encounters with Kate are always great. Can’t wait to go back soon!”

“I stayed in 4 hostels in England during my vacation and this was the best. Clean, professional and personal. The building is well kept and the staff were super friendly. The wifi is fine, the kitchen has everything you would need. Free tea and coffee. The painting on the walls really gives it a casual feel. The bathrooms are like that of a house. The location is pretty sweet. It was generally quiet too with the exception of some neighbors drinking.”

When looking for places to stay in Wales, IHUK helped us find Craig Y Nos and Cwtsch Hostels which were fantastic and met all of our needs. Their accessibility page was helpful and informative as we had a disabled member in our party. Would recommend to anyone traveling, or just looking for hostels within the UK.”

“Great facilities and superb location. Accommodation is basic but clean and warm. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a secure storage building for bikes and kit.”

“Had a great stay here for alton towers the following day, honestly amazed how good it looked and nice everyone was. Was a little windy getting there but worth it when you get there! Great views and tad spooky feel at night lol”

“Spent 3 days at the Dovedale House this Christmas and it was amazing! The nature and scenery around the house was beautiful and the sunset was beautiful to see when we went on a walk after dinner! The place it itself was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped, there is a meeting room that we used as a theatre room which had a projector screen and a projector we were able to connect our computer to. There was lots of rooms which is really nice seeing as we were quite the large group. Check in and out were easy and were explained well, there was Wifi which was easy to access but seeing as the house is quite large and there isn’t signal in the area, the wifi is best only on the ground floor. overall we really enjoyed our stay here and were very happy with not only the house but the people managing it!”

“We had exclusive hire and hosted our wedding party here. We had the best weekend! The communal space was great, the rooms were clean and tidy and the grounds were beautiful. The doors open onto the patio area and so the space flowed really well. The hostel staff were great at communicating and answering our many questions in the months before. Lots of great walks nearby and it felt very secluded. Cannot recommend this place enough!”
