Stayed in a family room off the car park. We didn't expect much after reading reviews however the room was fine for our needs. Large comfy bed, room clean and warm. Bit tired in places and lacking in attention to detail however didn't impact our stay. We ate in the restaurant and the curries were really nice. Lovely village.

THIS REVIEW APPLIES TO THE RESTAURANT ONLY. A new Indian restaurant has restaurant has recently opened at Cottons which is in the centre of village. Beautiful food which can be modified to suit your tastes, good bar, new restaurant and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Does a take out service. Great value for money.

We stay in February 23 for 2 nights on the Groupon deal and was so impressed with every aspect of our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, food was cooked perfectly (especially our steak on the first night) and breakfast was freshly cooked and very nice. The staff throughout were friendly, approachable and couldn’t do enough for you. Will definitely be returning. Thankyou

It is rare these days to find staff who actually appear to enjoy what they are doing. The team at the Charles Cotton are friendly and welcoming. They were helpful and very accommodating. A credit to the business. The food is good. Simple, good pub food with a broad selection on the menu. Cannot fault the service. As a hotel, it is full of charm. Don’t expect boundless luxury and enormous rooms, that is not what this is about. My only small grumble is with the soundproofing between rooms, but this is an old building filled with character. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Stayed the night in the village and was the only place we could get food at short notice. They were busy and the service was good to start but as less tables were sitting the service tailed off. The sticky toffee pudding was still cold inside. Price was reasonable, all four of us are and drank for just over £100.

Room wasn't clean with sticky stains on the bedside table. Food was a very low standard, chips undercooked. Both me and my partner didn't feel good after eating there. Food claims to locally sourced but does that count if it's from your local Tesco? Little flies were everywhere in the bar area. Rag left on the bathroom floor which implies the room was cleaned at some point but the smell says otherwise. Staff were friendly but i certainly wouldn't recommend. Very dated, dirty place. Avoid.

Lovely place in beautiful surroundings. The room was comfortable, plenty of parking, although anyone with a wider than usual vehicle may struggle to get through the gaps between the buildings. A few points knocked it off the 5 star spot. It was so quiet, but the room was too warm to sleep well (early September), and there was a slightly smoky smell in the bathroom, despite the rooms being strictly no smoking. Breakfast was good, but dinners were only OK. Battered fish was only just on the acceptable side of over-done, and I've cooked far better curries myself. Kids portions were great, but no kids desserts, so ended up paying £6 for a bowl of ice-cream that was left half-uneaten.
