   Had to go in to hand in some documents to be photocopied as I’m owed inheritance. A simple task one might assume. The receptionist is SO rude and was highly inconvenienced by my existence and also because I came ‘at lunch time’ - it was 2pm. The woman who came downstairs to photocopy my documents (all two of them) was also not welcoming at all. If the NHS staff can put a smile on their face for 13.5hrs during their shift and save lives in the process then I’m sure you can manage to be polite at 2pm during your 7.5hr shift.

   Poor experience so far. Receptionist always seems inconvenienced when you call through and the price of the quotes they charge seems extortionate when you find out some of their solicitors work part time hours. Not ideal when you’re trying to move forward with buying a property against a timely deadline.

   My wife and I would definitely NOT recommend this firm of solicitors. In our opinion they were rude, obstructive, created problems instead of suggesting solutions, and made the ‘Completion process’ on the sale of a high value property an absolute stressful nightmare. Due to our solicitor (senior partner, Tony Struve) not processing certain undertakings in time, payments into Heald Nickinson could not then be distributed out on the Friday. Despite numerous urgent emails and attempted phone calls on the Monday morning, we were unable to speak to anyone and payments had still not gone out (various interest and redemption fees were just about to be charged again). All the telephone lines were dead and I was on the verge of calling the police, until my wife dropped everything, drove to their offices and refused to leave their reception until the various transfers had been completed. She was there approximately 3.5 hours trying to sort out this mess. We have taken video footage in their reception of a solicitor who doesn't even work directly for Heald Nickinson trying to sort out these payments, shouting down his mobile at Tony Struve, the Senior Partner to be quiet and listen whilst he tried to facilitate the transfer of huge sums of money using notes literally on scraps of paper which my wife had to verify whilst sitting in reception! (all without her ID being checked, she could have just been someone who had walked in from the street!). Our own senior solicitor couldn’t seem to find the relevant emails with all the financial information sent during the previous week which had been verified by their accounts department. Tony Struve spoke to us as clients, and dealt with third parties with such arrogance that we spent huge amounts of our time just smoothing feathers in his wake, and having to then redo the work we had paid him to do as people refused to work with him. We would specifically ask him to telephone us rather than email when something was urgent or when we were travelling with no access to emails, he would just simply ignore our requests and send obtuse emails anyway. More seriously, when we requested a Statement of Account from the Senior Partner, we were informed that they were too busy to produce one (or due to Covid, they were too short staffed to do this!) It was confirmed by another solicitor that this information was available at anytime but despite repeated requests (approximately five!) we still were not furnished with these figures and repeatedly rebuffed. Before our completion date we asked what the ball park likely completion fees would be on the day so we could plan our finances. We started asking for this information at least 1 week before the expected day but only received the figure approximately two hours off the completion deadline, which of course gave us no time to check these fees were correct or indeed that they were as originally quoted (they were not, the charges were significantly more). Of course we didn't have time to disagree with these charges which were taken straight out of our monies without agreement. When we flagged that we didn't agree with the amount charged but could discuss it later, Tony Struve stated by return email that he wouldn't adjust the amount charged by one penny! There were countless other issues with this company, we have certainly never dealt with any firm of solicitors, in our opinion who were more rude or inept. We have not given this review lightly. After the experiences outlined above, we tried to talk to the Senior Partner responsible for Customer Complaints. He wouldn't either discuss or meet with us unless we had put everything in writing first so he could 'consider the issues'! Again, the clients doing the work. We most definitely would NOT recommend this company’s services and are now using another firm who are an absolute delight, and completely transparent with their fees. 1 * is too high a review in our opinion for Heald Nickinson. Our next correspondence is to the Law Ombudsman.
