   We booked the hotel rudyard because it is dog friendly we was made very welcome and the staff were very helpful and friendly we had the cottage out of the hotel and it very comfortable booked for evening meals and they had a good choice to choose from the hotel is very close to the lake and there are some nice walks around the lake or by the miniature railway there is a little cafe by the dam for coffee and snacks will be going back

   Rudyard Lake is a beautiful spot for a walk or a paddle. The scenery is calm and picturesque, and there’s a good mix of trails for different energy levels. A lovely place to spend a few hours outdoors away from the busy towns.

   Beautiful walk around the lake, parking at the hotel or free on the street. Can hire row boats, £15 for 30 mins. Little steam train ride runs alongside the lake. Has a cafe with outside seating area looking out to the lake. Free public toilets.

   Rudyard Lake is one of our little treasures, and we can’t recommend it enough! If you can, visit during the week – it’s wonderfully quiet, and you can really make the most of the water. The lake is perfect for paddleboarding, kayaking, and other water sports. The water itself is lovely and refreshing, making it ideal for a summer swim or a relaxed paddle. Bring along something tasty to eat, set up a picnic by the shore, and enjoy the stunning views all around you. One of the charming touches here is the little steam railway right next to the lake – perfect for kids (and adults who love trains!). It doesn’t run all year round, so be sure to check the timetable for departure and arrival times before you go. What makes Rudyard Lake so special is not just its beauty but also the fact that it never feels too crowded. Whether you’re here for water activities, a peaceful picnic, or simply soaking up the scenery, it’s the perfect spot to spend quality time with your family. We absolutely love it!

   Lovely day out with the family. Very cute little steam train ride, great hiking area, castle ruin and scenic lake. Free parking at the Steam train station, good value and great for all the family. Nice cafe at the Dam, toilets also there

   Nice and beautiful place for a huge walk. Train was not in service, but we had a pleasant day. They also have a nice coffee shop near the 'entrance' of the lake. Keep in mind, you have to pay for parking near of the coffee shop but it's quite cheap.

   Really great place to have a relaxing day off. The Rangers offering boat tours across the lake and water hire equipment offers fantastic customer service at reasonable prices. Coffee shop nearby is good, but can be busy and overcrowded at times, not coping with the amount of customers and could offer wider variety of choices. Good addition are the changing rooms for paddleboad enthusiasts. Overall great experience, highly recommended.

   Scenic lake walks with picnic area, toilet, cafe and parking in the hotel for £3 refunded with purchase. Dog friendly and small steam railway. Really a wonderful day out, relaxing with views.

   Rudyard lies in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands. It's a beautiful place for walkers with many opportunities, from a brief stroll along the shore to a walk all the way around the lake. Parking and toilet is available. Grab a cuppa or ice cream and enjoy a boat ride with your family.

   We didn't set out with the intention of arriving at Rudyard Lake but ended up here by a happy mistake. An hour or so later we'd been out on the lake via a rowboat for £10 and enjoyed ice-creams in the sunshine. Ended up being a fun little detour.
