First off let me ask you all a question . Why do you register with a vet ? I’m assuming your answer will be the same as mine in that you want your pet to receive the best possible care to ensure their well-being and if sadly that fails and your pet becomes unwell there will be appropriate support available to ensure your pets well being is tended to in a timely manner. Well sadly Curzon Street vets has failed my dog in both of these areas in my opinion. The reason they failed is, in my opinion, because they are rushing all the time. The receptionists rush you on the phone and can’t wait to get you off, the vet, well one of them more than the other, rush you through your appointment ( to be fair our appointment had been logged in the diary incorrectly and was entered for a date in a weeks time and not on the day/ date we had been verbally told on the phone. Therefore we were squeezed in between two other appointments . This proved almost fatal for my dog as I was initially told there was nothing wrong with my her but I insisted there was as she was acting out of character. Possibly and I felt begrudgingly and definitely rushed the vet listened to my dogs heart and informed us that there was a low grade heart murmur present but it wasn’t so advanced as we had anything to worry about . Long story short two days later ( week-end ) our dog became seriously ill and was struggling to breathe. Her life was saved by the emergency out of hours team in Derby on that occasion. We should have left Curzon Street there and then but we gave them the benefit of the dought. Sadly since then our dog continues to have health problems but twice now Iv phoned first thing in the morning for an appointment only to be told on both occasions that they are unable to see my dog who was obviously in a lot of pain until six to seven hours later later that day. Cruelty beyond belief in my eyes. I thought they would be showing more compassion. Also after seeing a different vet practice this week in the emergency situation I was told there are preventative measures that could be put into place to try to avoid the crises and painful experiences my dog finds herself in regularly. Sad to say the vet at Curzon St has never discussed prevention being a possible answer to our problems rather than waiting for the crises . I would also like to say that over the five years of being a customer at Curzon St the reception and nursing staffs attitudes have declined. Sarcastic remarks and whispering between themselves is not professional. I would be only too happy for a member of staff at Curzon St vets to contact me to discuss this review. However if you do please don’t rush the conversation as seems normal for you to do these days , it makes for a very uncaring environment that no animals owner wants to be party too. Thanks for your service over the past five years but I’m pleased to think we won’t be returning .

Brought my hen here.. Drove extra 20 mins because they were so highly recommended by friends.. They were fantastic, friendly and gentle and charged 1/3 what my local vets would have charged. I will always use this place in future

My 1st visit with Astrid (her 2nd). All the staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. Already booked in for our next visit. I think I was more nervous than Astrid. She was super chilled out. Thanks to everyone involved.

We brought our beautiful girl down to the vets after something didn't feel right. I called as the surgery opened and was promptly given an appointment slot within the hour. The receptionist was very welcoming, greeting at the door and offering a poo bag for my poorly pooch. The assistant gave my dog much needed attention whilst we waited to see the vet. The vet we seen was a lovely lady who offered a calming manner. My dog was prescribed an injection and shortly after was sent home. Unfortunately whilst being at home her condition worsened so after another call we were promptly advised to return. Upon our second welcoming of the day my dog seemed to almost light up to be back there, she knew she was safe. Again the same welcome as earlier that morning. The vet advised she was really not in a stable condition and the assistant made an extra space for her in there hospital. Unfortunately later that day I was met by the phonecall noone wants to receive, My darling dog had reached her finally time and it was in her best interest to be put to sleep respectfully. The permission to do so was given to the centre via the phone as we was advised it really needed to happen with immediate effect to prevent her suffering furthermore. Despite wishing we could be there I knew that these people I'd only met today would support and care for my girl until the end. We later called back to discuss what happens next and an individual cremation took place. My girl was returned to us in less than a week and my husband who came to collect her was reassured the decision we made was the right thing to do. This veterinary centre went above and beyond for my darling girl and I honestly cannot thank them enough. It was made clear to them numerous times how money was not a question in any means but to please advise what is best for my girl. This was something that could of possibly not only cost a lot of money attempting to prolong her life but also wouldn't of been the right thing to do. I can honestly not thank the team enough for being genuine, welcoming and giving my girl the best end of life care. Each and every team member I met that day went above and beyond and I can honestly say I will never forget any of you. Anyone looking for an honest, competitive, respectful vets do not waste your time looking any further. Thankyou to each and everyone of you for treating our beloved Skyla with love and comfort during her final day. You have made an impact on me and my family forever and will forever be in our prayers. ❤❤

Can not thank this place and their amazing staff enough. After a very poor experience at another local vet looking for diagnosis and treatment for my daughters pet rat, I rang curzon street who were so helpful, got us in the next day for an appointment, tried to treat with medication but unfortunately surgery was needed which they took care off, very reasonable pricing and every member of the team I came into contact with was so nice , so glad I made that call to them and would recommend to anyone in need of help for their pets.
