Long time since I last visited here. Not much has changed but still a great starting point for walks with plenty of out and back or circle routes. Plenty of parking, however if your paying on card you have walk to the shop yo purchase a ticket.

You will be living in a castle not a hostel. A place closer to lots of trails and hike points. Its between mountain and just beside the dove river. You can see the Thorpe Cloud peak from the hostel itself. Stepping stones and Thorpe cloud is half hour walk from the hostel and easy to locate. Has a self catering kitchen and a restaurant serving food with a Bar too. They have some guided maps too for shorter and longer hikes. Overall staff are polite and always there for you. Booked this hostel to relax over the last week of year and got what was expected. Will be coming here more often.

Nice large car park and looks like a overflow when very busy. There is a small cafe and information centre. Short walk up Dovedale to stepping stones,or you can go further to caves etc.

Visited Ilam (eye-lam) park today with the family.. we had a amazing time. The kids loved every moment of it.. they were chasing the sheeps around, climbing hills, exploring the vast acres of landscape. A beautiful and clean place to visit for the day. Car parking is Β£6 for up to 4 hours or Β£8 for the day, the machines only accept coins or you can walk to the cafe and pay by card.

Lovely park with lots of walking routes, we only came to look around briefly as it was late. Got surprised as we found a small eatery inside the Ilam hall that serves food till late evening, also a bar available with lots of drinks. Outdoors had lots of areas for kids to play in.

Really nice place to enjoy a day out. There is a small cafe to enjoy lunch although it was quite pricey. Plenty of space to wonder around. Seating was a bit limited. You can comfortably walk to the steeping stones from here all the route is not pram/wheelchair friendly.

You will feel like in a fairy-tale land, walking surrounded by hills, forests and rivers. A great place to spend time with the family, not only in the park but on the trail in Dove Valley. Although it is not the heart of the Peak District somehow, this place is special for those who love nature and stunning scenery

Simply stunning place!! Set in the awesome peak district, Ilam has it in spades when it comes to views, beauty, architecture. walks. Not far to the stepping stones and Dovedale. Great place to set off from for a walk, or have a picnic in the grounds! Nice tea rooms if you forgot your picnic though. βΊοΈ

Visited on Christmas day 2019, when I had my holiday in the area. I thought on Christmas at least the beauty spots were open for nice walks. Well, even to get there was lovely to drive through a valley with sheep grazing around. They have a good size car park and in the manor a youth hotel - or at least that time it definitely worked like that. Also cafΓ©/toilet available in the side of the house. The ground has a lovely view and a few paths to start our walk. I bet I missed the longer ones, but the weather was wet and muddy, and I did not find proper estate map anywhere. But yet I spent there 3-4 hours to walk around and enjoyed the fresh air. I wanted to walked down to the stepping stones, but on half way I had to turn back as it was already half past 3 pm and began to get dark, so felt better to head back to the car park. But in summertime it can be another nice walk to get there, have a look, enjoy and then back. Also we can drive there within a few minutes. But because winter has very short daylight, hard to squeeze 2 spots in one day. But the area is beautiful, and definitely worth to see.
