   After reading the great five-star reviews, I decided to stay overnight and enjoy dinner and a drink on New Year's Day. It seems I should have reviewed other less positive reviews before booking. I spoke to the team to confirm the details of breakfast etc. a couple of days earlier, then booked online. After a long walk along the lovely beach, I duly arrived just after 4pm to check in. I was looking forward to the great service and food that other reviewers raved about. I asked whether I needed to reserve a table and was told that the kitchen had already closed at 4pm, and that the rest of the facilities would close at 6pm! As you can imagine, I was very disappointed. It’s very annoying that I wasn’t told this during the conversation I had with the pub before I booked, as I wouldn’t have made the reservation at all. It was suggested that I go to The Lamb for dinner (a couple of miles away), so a beer with dinner wasn’t going to happen. In light of the lack of food, drive to another pub and back, then spend the evening in an empty pub, I left the pub just after 5pm. I wasted the accommodation charge. Sadly, I can’t provide another five-star review that The Witterings will thank me for, as my experience wasn’t what I expected, or what others had received. If The Witterings had been upfront with their opening times either on their website or verbally over the phone this could have been easily avoided.

   We've been coming to this pub/restaurant for a while now and every time we visit we have such a lovely time. The food is incredible - always so delicious...a really thoughtful specials board too. The cocktail menu is fab and we love the fact that there are some different versions of the classics - the coriander marg is definitely one to try. Really friendly and attentive service and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely lovely place to spend some time and enjoy great seasonal (of which some is very local) food. Perfect for couples or families/friends.

   Cosy pub with friendly staff and food was high quality but affordable. Cod for main was particularly good :) Look forward to coming back for another lunch after a beach walk. Definitely worth a visit!

   We recently enjoyed an evening meal at The Wittering. The menu featured a good selection of dishes that ranged from high quality pub classics through to more inventive plates. All of our food was served promptly and tasted great – we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The pub itself is beautifully decorated and has some lovely paintings hung throughout. An added bonus was the great selection of beers - it was refreshing to see some interesting ales on tap. Would definitely book again.

   Extremely dissatisfied. Waiting staff exceeded all expectations by being ignorant, unprofessional without any clue about etiquette and customer service. I guess this goes down to management. Food is tasteless, disgusting and overpriced. 8pm and place is already run out of a lot of things from the menu. Will never go back there again.

   The Wittering gastro pub experience is incredible. The welcome was friendly and they could not do enough to make us feel very welcome. With a young family we rarely get a night out, so they are precious. The atmosphere was beach cool meets relaxed class! Loved it! They had tables of families, older couples and all were having a great Friday evening. The highlight was definitely the food! Hubby had the beef cheek, melt in the mouth. I had the pork which was just stunning with gorgeous spring veg. The lemon meringue pudding was the best to finish. We shall be back with the family for a lunch!
