I took my father and his friend for lunch here yesterday and had the most fabulous meal. Two of us had the fresh hake dish and two had the fish curry. Both were beautifully cooked and presented on warm plates with delicious sides and accompaniments. I also ordered the harissa roasted fennel which was absolutely delicious. All credit to the great chef, Sam, who was generous enough to share how the fennel is prepared and cooked- thank you Sam, making that later this week ! The apple and blackberry crumble was equally delicious. The staff were lovely and attentive without being overbearing and we really responsive when we asked for something. A lovely venue in a great location, welcoming staff and exceptional food. Can't wait to go back to try other dishes on the menu.

Me and my family came to On the Water for my birthday to have breakfast coffees and cakes/pastries. (we did not have actual breakfast food). The atmosphere and location is lovely and is perfect for the occasion we came for. However, we were quite disappointed with the coffees. They tasted really bad, watery tasteless and bitter. The selection of pastries/cakes was next to none, and they were not fresh either, and clearly came out of packets. I know that this place is not a coffee house or bakery. But in this day and age, good barista coffee is easily achievable (and expected?!) in a place like this, instead of poor quality automated machines akin to service station coffee. some fresh or locally sourced pastries would be a hit too. On a side note, the waitress accidentally charged my step mum the £70 bill for the table next to us who ate food, instead of the 4 bad coffees we had. Which is a simple mistake she very quickly and kindly rectified and refunded, but added to the slighlty underwhelmed experience

We hosted my daughter’s baby shower yesterday at on the Water, and it was amazing. The staff were so attentive, and nothing was too much trouble for them—even though the restaurant was extremely busy. The venue is gorgeous with plenty of space for decorations. We had quite a large balloon arch set up and there was still plenty of room. The buffet was delicious, and they catered for a variety of dietary needs. I would definitely, definitely recommend holding your event here. For us, it was the staff who truly made it special!

Had a great time at on the water this weekend. Everything was perfect, the service the atmosphere and the location. Really looking forward to coming back in summer.

There was no need for such a harsh review but unfortunately I can only judge as I find. There’s no doubt the kitchen can throw out a good plate of food. Starters were lovely, Panko squid and Korean Tacos. The half lobster was tiny, a big tiger prawn but really needed to be served as a whole to one person not split in half. We had plenty of time to debate the size as we stared at them for 35 minutes having finished before eventually giving up, paying at the till and popping over to Tescos to buy deserts. There were loads of kids in staff T shirts but they were all either talking to each other by the bar or round the back of the restaurant outside. We went there to have a lovely meal and be happy but sadly front of house let the side down, the kitchen also played their part in terms of sending out a shrimp to do a lobster’s job. Mentioned our woes at the till when paying - twice, and was ignored - twice.

It was a lovely sunny October, yes sunny October, day on the South Coast of England. Lee on the Solent to be exact. We went to On the Water as it held memories for our elderly neighbour who we had brought out for the day. We'll, it didn't disappoint. Great food and yet another restaurant able to deliver an awesome gluten free menu. Service was spot on. Thanks. Have already revommended it to family.

Visited last week for an evening out as the Restaurant was doing an offer of a free bottle of wine with 2 meals. We had a starter we shared, jerk chicken Tacos which were really nice. My Wife had Mussels, she really loved this, a good size portion. I chose the fish & chips. Not overly impressed, the portion size wasn't great, literally just fish & chips with a pea puree which I thought was quite pretentious. Wish I had the burger which was cheaper and bigger. Free bottle of wine made up for it tho, was a Pinot which would have cost about £20. So for a meal coating £45 Inc wine I can't really complain but would not have been happy to pay in full £65, too expensive for what it is. Having said that the service was very good, staff were attentive and busy. This place has recently been refurbished and looks nice but Guys, you need to consider reducing your prices for Locals to return regularly. Thanks.

Flew to Lee-on-the-Solent and heard about this place so had to try it out. A pleasant, short walk along the pebble beach and got seated straight away. Lunch menu was great. Recommend eithther the Coronation Chicken or Fish Finger sandwich, which we had. Staff were great and food was served quickly. Great views sat outside looking across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Will definitely come back again.
