Good bar. Enjoyed a few Guinness and playing pool with my son. Had dinner with my family and we were all disappointed with food. I had mackerel to start and it was dry/over cooked. Next was over cooked lobster and it was over cooked. Cesar salad dressing wasn’t great. My daughter has penne pasta with chicken . Pasta was over cooked and sauce ce had no great flavour. My wife had fish tacos which were decent- good quality fish used. My son had chicken wings and salt and pepper chicken. - he thought it was 5 out of 10. Staff were nice but service for dinner was really slow. Will still go back for a pint, but not for the food. .

Absolutely amazing wee place for food. I’m so surprised that we’ve not been here before. We spend all of our spare time in the Mournes & camping nearby. And we’ve only discovered this wee hidden gem? The food was absolutely incredible!! It’s genuinely the best meal out that we’ve had in a very long time! The chef should take a bow as every single dish that arrived at our table was packed full of flavour and expertly seasoned. The kids had the salt and chilli chicken that was most definitely not out of a freezer bag as the norm seems to be these days. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was perfectly spiced which left two empty plates. Some veg would’ve been nice with the kids meals but I understand some kids don’t like veg & we could’ve ordered a side order. My trout was the star of the show in my opinion. The crispy skin was outstanding whilst the fish itself was perfectly cooked. The pea risotto was the best risotto that I’ve ever tasted. Everything was so expertly put together and the dish itself was very well thought out. The Chef clearly knows their stuff & what ingredients go well together, they’ve put lots of thought into the dish as a whole including the aesthetics, the visual of the meal, the textures. The presentation was incredible. My eldest had the monkfish scampi which looked delicious and was also well cooked. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the huge piece of beer battered fish with 3 lovely dips and lovely chunky chips. The curry dip was really delicious, the perfect accompaniment. All three fish dishes were cooked to perfection. My husband had the mussels to start and they were honestly incredible, very well cooked and packed full of flavour! The toasted ciabatta slice added the much needed crunch and was the perfect addition to the dish. Again, thought went into that dish. The whole experience was tremendous! The two young guys working tonight were so polite and very attentive! I genuinely cannot believe we’ve only just discovered this wee gem of a place. The price for 5 of us including drinks and two pints was really impressive. Genuinely the nicest food we’ve had in a very long time! Another thing that I absolutely love is when I looked at the kids menu, everything was homemade or from the butchers which is unusual. Not one generic item on that menu! Even the chips/fries were perfectly seasoned. Cannot wait to call back down. Absolutely tremendous. Oh, the wee side beer garden had live music and looked very inviting, the general atmosphere of the place was really lovely. Such a well kept and clean establishment. Thank you for an amazing dining experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went for a meal on a friday for my birthday as recommended by my parents from previous visits, had been declared delicious food! I would tend to agree the food I ate was lovely and very substational portions, the fish sharing platter was lovely and gyozas and aranchini were a nice surprise for a local restaurant. The vegetarian option however could have been more flavoursome and appeared quite bland, could do with being elevated a bit to be a bit more enticing. However the length of time waiting between drinks, ordering, serving etc. was too long, the staff did there best to tend to everybodys needs but there was just not enough people on the floor to keep everybody happy. Would love to come back in the hope that they recognise their potential to be a thriving restaurant within the town and have a couple more staff on the books.

Good Food and service. Went for Sunday lunch and the food was tasty. 3 courses for £28.95. The kids also enjoyed their food, 2 course for £10.95. The staff are also so nice and allowed us to move table. Will definitely be back!

What a great find. Excellent quality food, a menu small enough not to confuse…. Lesley behind the bar was an absolute treasure… full of fun with great local knowledge. Will definitely be going again.
