Dined in the pheasant on last Saturday evening, restaurant was very busy and the place had a great atmosphere, I was part of a large party out on a Christmas party, the food was so so good considering the amount of people in. I had the salt and chilli pheasant which was super tasty, crispy yet tender pieces of pheasant served with what I could call a spicy slaw and a sweet mango purΓ©e yummm!! Turkey and ham for main course. I eat a lot of Christmas dinners in December lol but this one hit different, all ingredients where cooked perfectly and bursting with flavour, a real winner (cranberry sauce gorgeous also) trio for dessert, such a lovely variance of light fluffy flavours again a great dessert to finish our meal. The service was very efficient and the staff were helpful and pleasant. We will return next year as our whole party really enjoyed our night out!! If u can get to the pheasant over the Christmas holidays it won’t disappoint !!!!!!

Lovely European/Irish-inspired gastropub with a warm, welcoming vibe and a crackling fireplace. The DaubΓ© beef was rich and tender, the chicken parmesan perfectly crisp, and the rosemary potatoes and sweet potato fries were spot on. The Irish cheese fondue with sourdough and the fresh Caesar salad made perfect starters. Great food, cozy atmosphereβ€”definitely worth a visit on a day trip!

Six years ago I met a special person in there and since then we return there at least once a year fo our anniversary. We book a same table every time apart from once when we didn't thought we need a booking and it was extremely busy. Evenings there are always busy that's why we go for midday lunch between three and five as weekend evenings are pretty busy. Food is absolutely delicious! Menu updated very regularly but the quality never change. Staff is always pleasant. Not annoying but present if you need. Definitely one to return to.

Quick stop for lunch, super fast service and delicious food. We picked from the set menu (£19) a starter & a main course Really tasty and beautifully presented. Very satisfied ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Used to go all the time to The Pheasant years ago but haven't been for a few years due to working abroad. Usually the staff are very good but the particular waitress that showed us to our table had a thoroughly unpleasant manner and clearly not happy to be working on a Saturday night. The menu choice isn't nearly what it used to be and wasn't overly impressed by what was on it. I had the Goats Cheese tart to start which was very small compared to usual portations of this dish elsewhere and it tasted horrible with a texture to match. Was very chalky in texture which was good sign pointing at the tart having been frozen rather than freshly made. Due to lack of choice I ended up picking a burger which the menu really raved about... First off it was Β£17 and then if you wanted cheese it was a extra Β£2... Seriously!? Burger arrived bordering on very well done to burnt it had a clear burnt taste that overpowered what was otherwise a very bland tasting dish. Meant to come with mayonnaise there was the mearest suggestion of mayo on it might as well have not bothered at all. Asked for ketchup to at least disguise the burnt taste just so I could get it eaten as I was hungry... Ketchup was the cheapest ketchup ever was pretty much all vinegar so given the prices being paid they penny pinch on giving Heinz at least. I was just going to pay and leave just to put the bad experience to bed but I was asked by the manager how my meal was when paying and I told her the truth and in fairness she did knock the two starters of the bill. In fact she was the only positive thing I can say about the experience she is always friendly and pleasant just a shame her attitude doesn't rub off on all the staff members. Even though we are local I won't be back.

Fantastic spot just outside Hillsborough. Food is top notch and service is friendly and attentive without being pushy. Highly recommend going off the beaten track and checking out this lovely little pub!
