Went in on Saturday 6th Dec, the place was not to busy, yet we had to wait 30 mins to be served, not good. the owner was sat having his lunch just in front of us and he was having to conduct his staff whilst he was eating to empty tables and take orders, to be honest the waitress was absolutely useless. She finally came and asked what we required, then returned 10 minutes later to re take the order as she had lost it. Food finally arrived, yet the chips were missing, by the time she came back with them, we had finished the meal. A friend of mine came in 5 minutes after us, yet decided to leave as he could not get served. This used to be a great little cafe, however on this occasion the service was terrible, New staff required who can actually run a busy cafe in busy and not so busy periods, unfortunately they struggled to multitask and this resulted in loss of trade, not good for the owner when times are hard.

This used to be my go to cafe, however it appears to have changed ownership. The teacakes have changed to be dry and cheap, with two small butter sachets. The breadcakes have also changed. However, the prices have gone up. A fatty bacon sandwich and a dry teacake is now £6.75. Such a shame.

We ate here this week. The food was good, I had sausage egg and chips and the price was very good. The sausages were nice, the eggs well cooked and the chips good, it was all hot. What put us off was the time we had to wait. Arriving we had 50 plus minutes before an appointment I had to leave for; we were served quick enough and our order given. It was 30 minutes before the food arrived! I had to rush it down and dash off leaving my wife to settle up. Now we know why at lunchtime there was so much room in there. For this reason, I would not recommend this café and we will never use it again.

We dropped in here for an early lunch at around 11.30 and three was plenty of seating. The server came straight over and asked us for our drinks order before we'd had chance to get our coats off properly, in hindsight we should have asked her to give us a moment, but we ordered a couple of drinks, and before you know it she was back with them and asking for our food order. Very efficient, but I think next time I would ask for a little more time so that we could read the menu, I am not criticising their efficiency as some people quite like this and it was our fault that we hadn't asked for more time. Hubby order the steak baguette and chips which was very reasonably priced and he enjoyed it immensely. I ordered the jacket potato, only I was a bit disappointed to find that it was a microwaved potato, the skin was tough but it was edible and I ate it because I was hungry, the coleslaw was really tasty and the salad was fresh. Overall it was a mixed bag in relation to the food, I would eat here again, but I know to ask for time to look at the menu and not to order the jacket potato!

We eat regularly at The Coffee House have done for many years, sad to see its up for sale. We visited today 27.1.23 its was extremely busy with limited staff, but as always great food & service & Terri our server was just amazing considering the cafe was full & she was taking orders & serving during a very busy time. I hope if it does sell it remains a cafe & the staff jobs are safe.

This cafe has been open since I was a small child. I am 61 now! It's a cosy plenty of seating cafe. The food is really good. I have tried jacket potatoes with fillings of choice. Very well presented. Steak pie with mash or chips. Substantial is an understatement! This week I tried haddock and chips. It was ok but could have been better. I still enjoyed it. The staff are so friendly and nothing is to much trouble. The prices are amazing. I would recommend paying a visit. But if you want luxury seating, up to date lighting and an ambience of upper class life where you are charged triple the price for honour, this place isnot for you.

Great place to come, can get quite busy but always worth waiting for a seat. The food is lovely and the coffees are always a welcomed treat. This is our usual to eat at and would not say go elsewhere, great service, inviting place and lovely food.
