Spent a weekend at this lovely hotel. Away from the maddening crowds of town, but close enough to walk or a short drive away. Wonderful staff, good food and a nice walking trail down to the river.

Just visited here today for the first time and will most definitely not be back. So disappointed with the food and service, ordered a alocopop it was served warm and very little Ice in glass, clearly not kept in the cooler. Ordered two turkey & ham dinners no taste to these at all. Turkey had no taste either did the veg this was served with no presentation. Gravy was horrible no taste at all. The waitresses was a complete nightmare as he approached us continuously to see if we had finished our meal it almost felt like we were an inconvenience to him, i dont understand why as there was no one else in the restaurant at this time. He then was lifting our plates away before we had a chance to say if we had finished or not. Best of all when leaving went to pay at reception couldn't believe when we looked at our receipt and were charged 10% service charge. For what service???? First restaurant ever that have charged a service charge. Absolutely disgusting for the quality of food its shameful

Visited for Sunday lunch with my family recently. Firstly - the location is stunning and the views from the dining room are beautiful. Unfortunately things went downhill from there. We were seated in the dining room which had a few other tables occupied. Everyone was talking very quietly and there was no background music put on until we had nearly finish our meal. It felt very awkward. A member of staff was constantly flitting around our table setting up tables for diners (we overheard this) who werenβt arriving for quite some time. It was really off putting when youβre trying to eat a meal. The mealβ¦.we ordered a chicken, a beef and a salmon roast. The presentation was lacking, in that all that was on the plate was a single breast of chicken; a single fillet of salmon, a couple of slices of beef. We were given one bowl of potatoβs (roast and boiled) and one bowl of veg (greens). Iβll be honest - it looked like something youβd be served in a care home. It tasted very bland, lacking seasoning and the veg was boiled to within an inch of its life. I honestly donβt believe they have a qualified chef in the kitchen. Dessert was similarly mediocre and mistakes were made with our orders. A lady came over to take payment; she didnβt ask if we enjoyed our meal which says it all really. Such a shame as the location is fabulous. If they had a bit of investment and hired a decent chef this place would do so much business!

Such a lovely tranquil place. The sense of being able to just relax. My first visit. Sat outside, table service and looking out at a peaceful, amazing and unspoiled view of the Mournes. Homely but very professional. A pleasant surprise for me as I don't live that far away. The owners should be very proud of that haven....

We just called for a few drinks, stunning location. Quaint old style hotel, based in first impression we are making plans to go back for a meal. Stunning! Really beautiful river walk too.
