This does not seem to be an actual bike shop, rather it is a sub-department of Sports Direct. On two occasions I’ve stopped by and found no one in attendance. Moreover, if you want to try out a bike, I’m not sure how that would be feasible given its location (upstairs inside a shopping centre).

Store seems abandoned. I've been browsing bikes and other bits on a number of occasions, no one has ever been there or even within the vicinity of bikes. This is with me browsing for well over an hour, moving stock and mesuring standover height and the seatpole length, yet never has a staff member approached me asking if I needed help. I was in the store last week to purcase a new lock took me about 30 mins to settle on the one I wanted despite this as before nobody came over nobody was there to take my money. Eventually I walked over to the Game tills and paid for the lock.

Recently restaffed Evans with a great guy who really knows his stuff & is able to help with all things bike related, his customer service is exceptional, great selection of bikes for what is a small store inside Sports Direct

The shop has recently been updated, and all the information I read about it previously is no longer accurate. There are three people working there, all experienced cyclists who support both sales and services. They are knowledgeable about bikes, the market, availability, and bike quality. You can find most brands there, including TREK, CUBE, PINNACLE, CANNONDALE, WHYTE, GT, MONGOOSE, FROG, SPECIALIZED, and Moddyfox. The prices are competitive, and you can price match with their website. Purchases can be made using various schemes like V12, RIDE TO WORK, and Frasers Plus. The accessories selection is excellent, offering helmets, lights, locks, hydration systems, shoes, fenders, and other bike parts. The atmosphere is welcoming, and you can get your questions answered there. It seems they are committed to improving their services and keeping their customers satisfied. I strongly recommend disregarding previous comments and trying it out for yourself.

Came in to buy a bike. Found one I liked but no one was in the shop to take payment. Someone from Sports Direct called the Evans Cycles team member, but they said they were on lunch for the next 45 minutes. We'd have to wait until then. If you have no one to cover your shop while your staff are on lunch, maybe update your opening hours? This is unacceptable. Needless to say, I did not buy the bike.

I test drove an electric bike at the Guildford branch and asked for advice on accessories for the bike - I duly ordered the items and asked for them to be delivered to the Portsmouth branch. Arrival of the items was prompt however the mudguards and basket I was told to buy did not fit my bicycle. Simon and Henry in Portsmouth were super helpful, ordered the right parts for me and duly fitted them on receipt. I was not charged any extra even though they were more expensive. Like others I was frustrated not to be able to get through on the phone - but once I gave my phone number Simon ensured I was kept up to date with progress. As they are on their own managing this branch you may sometimes find the desk unmanned but if you ask at a till they will soon come and help you. I for one was very impressed by the service I received. Thank you

I have got a bicycle delivered to this store soon, after reading the comments decided to pass by and see if the comments are true and I'll have difficulty picking up the bike. I have no clue with who the people underneath interacted with, but when I got there, I couldn't find the gent working there, asked another employee if they know where he is, they called him via the radio, and boom he was here in less than two minutes, apperently he was picking up a few bike deliveries. The gent was fantastic, polite and answered all of my questions, so I got no clue what was the problem for everyone, will update this comment once my bicycle arrives.

AVOID! As other reviews said there's nobody in this shop. I've been waiting more than 40 minutes but nobody came to ask if I need any assistance. Came to collect my bike from another city because I thought Evans will be the best place to buy a new bike. Apparently, I was wrong. Very disappointing.

Sadly I would probably give this zero stars if I could. Bike ordered online via click and collect on 22 May, delivered to this store 28 May. Tried to pick up the next day on the off chance and fair enough, it hadn’t been scanned in (it was delivered on a Saturday and I went in on Sunday). Waited 3 days nothing. Neither Evans Customer Services or I could speak to anyone at the store on multiple occasions and could only send an email. Throughout this time, having initially been under the impression I would need to build the bike, I was told it would be built for me. Complained further and received a reply on 6th June telling me it was taking time as the bike was being built. It seemed action had been taken as almost immediately I received an email saying the bike was ready to pick up, but to wait two days for it to be built. So I waited two days, only to find the bike hadn’t been built. Meaning the bike had been sat in the store for 10 days in a state in which I could have collected it. To top it all off on my third ride of the bike, having built it myself, the chain then broke leaving me with a 2 hour walk home. Complaint to customer services ongoing. Go to Halfords or your local bike shop, it will be quicker, easier and you’ll get much better service and better product.
