Just returned from a relaxing week at Stables Cottage. Beautiful peaceful location set in a lovely courtyard setting. The cottage had everything needed for a self-catering holiday. Dogs are welcome and enjoyed some lovely walks. Situated not far from the amazing dog-friendly beach at Mapleton. My only complaint is that the wifi wasn't the best.

Lovely cozy cottage with the log burner, great location quiet but still only a short drive to both the coast and amenities of hull. Owner Simon is fantastic! Loved our stay.

The Stables Cottage is situated in a beautiful park of Yorkshire. It's within an hour or so from the tourist places you would want to visit including Withernsea and Hull. The property itself is well looked after, and clean with a double bed in the only bedroom. The lounge/dining area is comfortable and includes a table, chairs, wood burner, and TV. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery and cutlery items. I dishwasher is also included. We didn't use the advertised laundry facilities, so I cant comment on them. Simon, the owner, was friendly and welcoming so why the 2 stars, you may ask? I have thought hard and for a while about leaving this part of my review and have decided to do so... When we arrived there were several loo rolls and a kitchen roll left inside the cottage. Both were removed on 2 separate occasions whilst we were not home. This should not happen I couldn't care less about the fact the property owner needed them-we had brought our own anyway-but to come into a property to remove items whilst the holidaymakers are not home is just not right. A lot of our personal belongings were inside. All they had to do was knock when we were there to ask for them back. I find it disappointing that they didn't. We won't return and wouldn't be able to recommend it because of this invasion. UPDATE: The owner has read my review and he is going to look into was responsible for coming into our cottage whilst we were there. He has also made a generous offer which 100% believe he had zero knowledge of our privacy being broken during our stay. I've since upgraded my service star mark to something more appropriate.

We had a three night break from the kids. The cottage itself is lovely as is the owner, however, I can’t help but feel that something is missing. It really could be something more special and beautiful if the owners put a little money into the accommodation. First the positives; 1) The cottage is in a beautiful setting 2) We found it peaceful and relaxing 3) Simon, the host, was very friendly and warm 4) Log burner was a lovely addition 5) New kitchen, very nice units and fully equipped with dish washer and washing machine 6) Very clean 7) Character details such as wooden ceiling Constructive criticism, 1) Some of the furniture is a little sorry for itself 2) The furniture was miss matched and a bizarre mix 3) Sofa could do with replacing, neither big nor comfy enough 4) The king size bed was actually two singles pushed together 5) The mattress was incredibly cheap and not particularly comfortable 6) Bathroom was poor, really needs modernising, shower has very low water pressure and cubicle is incredibly small. I dropped soap and had to get out the shower to pick it up, couldn’t bend over in the cubicle

Not easy to find. Satnav takes you a location half a mile away. I have included a photo of the entrance. The actual sign is tiny. We weren't impressed. Bed is small and very hard. Too hard. The wood burner is a feature, as is the wooden beamed ceiling. It made creaking noises in the night. The flat is clean, well maintained. There's an impressive dawn chorus. Its not near anywhere. You have to drive, to go anywhere. We both decided it not going to be on our might go to again.
