I purchased a school blazer in July ready for the start of the new term. Unfortunately, over the holidays my daughter had a growth spurt. The blazer is still brand new, unworn, with tags attached, and I have the original receipt. However, the store refused an exchange because it was purchased more than 30 days ago. I understand shops need return and exchange policies, but some flexibility should be allowed for school uniform purchases made in advance of the new school year. Parents are encouraged to buy early to secure the right sizes, yet this policy leaves families stuck when children inevitably grow over the summer. With the cost of uniform being so high for secondary school, you would also expect a little compassion.

Upon entering the steady school wear shop on saville street, we were openly greeted by Lois. What had started as a stressful morning finding my children’s school uniforms, Lois’ calm nature and welcoming smile was immediately reassuring. Lois was immensely helpful with everything that myself and my two children needed. Her knowledge of the school uniforms and systems was impeccable! What a delight it was to have Lois help us, and we left with everything that we needed, plus a lovely and friendly experience. Lois is an asset to steady school wear!

Lovely young ladies that work in this shop. Very helpful as soon as you walk in the door. Approachable, friendly and very knowledgable about what is needed for each school. They basically sort everything for you, know what you need and have different sizes to hand for everything. It made shopping with two kids so much less stressful than it would be if I had to do it on my own. I would be swamped with multiple sizes and packaging and coat hangers and get overwhelmed. I had the same experience last year. Was in and out this morning in less than half hour with both kids sorted for September, thank you x

Thank you so much to Sam and the staff that helped my first visit into the Saville Street store on 11th August 2025 I was feeling anxious about the whole situation about coming into the store and getting uniform for secondary school. All this worry for nothing I couldn't have asked for better service. Definitely deserves praise thank you means alot as I suffer with anxiety and the whole experience was perfect

Got exactly what we needed. We weren't rushed at all despite needing to try on a fair few pairs of trousers to find the right size. Price fits the quality. Not expensive but also not cheap, items wash great and last well.

Great service, friendly polite staff. Was dreading sorting daughters uniform but they made it really easy. I've knocked a star off because I believe the website should say 'from' and then the price.. Think it can be abit misleading as you have to actually click on the item to see the correct price. I do think the prices are expensive but think that's partly the schools fault for making them wear uniform from only one shop.

Staff had me waiting outside until they "decided" there was room for me to enter. Staff is run on teenagers. Hardly no stock on the shelves, if you don't ask you don't get. Otherwise it's a 4 week wait for items. Ridiculous prices,l!! Cost £86, for blazer, pe jumper and school jumper. Very unreasonable pricing for working class parents!

In short, an excellent service provided by excellent staff. The longer version... I ordered 2 x polo shirts for my son and had to exchange them. I first emailed Paula and her response was prompt and reassuring. I called in at the store and was served by Mandy, she was pleasant, helpful and professional throughout even though at times they are incredibly busy. I returned to the store to collect the replacement shirts and was served by a young man, apologies for not getting his name, but again friendly and efficient service was provided. The whole matter was resolved the same day. Many thanks.
