What a wonderful shop. The most contemporary haberdashery I've seen. Wonderful fabrics, great products and lots of great gift ideas. Friendly and welcoming. It felt like a makers sweet shop!
I went in today to ask to get three items of clothing hemmed and was met with such an unwelcoming rude dark-curly haired women who just met me with such unfriendliness. And made me feel stupid for immediately not knowing my “lower leg inner hem size” when usually I go to visit Mary she allows me to try on the clothes and I show her where I would like the hem. This women then went onto explain how’s she’s not trained in knowing how to hem things - but then why are you taking clothes for Mary’s ALTERATIONS? Never coming here again such an unpleasant experience and absolutely no service-client respect or friendliness.
I went on a sewing course at clothes kits and have to say I had a really enjoyable day. The course was really well presented. The lady running it was a great teacher and made it easy to understand what we had to do. The course essentially was how to make a series of seams. Every one of which had a very clear instruction sheet to help understand how to do it and when we had made the sample we stapled the sample to the sheet. Our lady teacher was so helpful and frankly patient. I've come away after having a fun day and I've learnt something that was both useful and enjoyable... Great value and a good day out.
Amazing! Never visited the shop but used the website and never let .e down. Fabrics at good prices, priced over meter not 0.5. Good range of fabrics. Website very user friendly. Always quick postage and beautifully packed.
I have purchased many Clothkits kits in the past few years, fabric too. I have also purchased many of the gorgeous embroidery kits from Clothkits. I recently retired and am now sewing nearly everyday. I have always loved sewing, from an early age. I have three children, born in the late 70s and early 80s. Clothkits was my passion for children's clothes. My boys had many of the dungaree designs, the quilted jackets too. When I was expecting my daughter I purchased the baby changing bag kit. I was the envy of my mother and baby group. My daughter, Hannah had many Clothkits dresses, jackets and dungarees. When I found Clothkits again, many these years later, my enjoyment of making up the kits resumed! They really are unique. Fabulous quality. Easy instructions. Everything I need to complete the kit is included too. Long may Clothkits go on! Thank you for the pleasure of sewing your kits.

Ordered a pattern for the wife on Dec 1st, well aware that may be a delay due to Royal Mail strikes (solidarity!). Very pleased to report received my order this morning (Dec 3rd). Fantastic service and look forward to driving the wife up to visit the shop.
This is a really lovely haberdashery. A really good variety of sewing, knitting, cross stitch and more. I always find lovely things in this shop. It's all displayed so lovely too.
I used to use Clothkits when I had children and they had a shop in Oxford many years ago. I am still using them for my grandchildren and love the fabric and haberdashery. I had such a sweet email from one of the lovely women who work there, giving updates of my order and adding a personal touch to us as customers. They have unique items for sale and I would urge anyone reading this review to support our independent sewing/fabric shops.
