Avoid this place at all costs!! I recently purchased a sofa, chair & footstool in store. I did NOT get to test the type of sofa I ordered because it wasn’t in store. Upon delivery of the sofa it became apparent due to a recent illness I’d been diagnosed with, the furniture is unsuitable for me. I called “customer service” the next working day and was told somebody in returns would contact me. I then received a call from the salesman to tell me it was made to my size, colour so it couldn’t be returned as they’d be fulfilled the contract. This is a lie! It’s a generic 3 piece sofa in a generic colour DFS offer. As they don’t keep them on the shelf they won’t accept a return BUT according to the contract if you buy online, you can return it within 14 days, so what’s the difference? £3,600 spent for something I cannot use due to a recently diagnosed illness & the store couldn’t care less or offer any form of “goodwill”. Keep your money & shop elsewhere!

Our experience with DFS has been exhausting and deeply disappointing. We purchased a San Mateo sofa before Christmas 2024, and it arrived damaged. Despite repeated promises — including a refund offer that was later withdrawn — we were left for months without usable seating. We continued paying finance instalments for a sofa that wasn’t fit for purpose, while DFS stalled, deflected, and refused to escalate the matter, even after explaining that there was a disabled person in the household. It ultimately took the Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman and our finance provider (who were excellent and recognised DFS hadn’t upheld their own contract) to bring the ordeal to an end. The detail December 2024 – Delivery: Sofa arrived damaged straight from the van. Store response: Defensive and dismissive. Every explanation felt scripted. Manager visit: The inspecting manager arrived negative and uninterested, claimed we had “no options,” and while photographing the sofa, his phone briefly lit up showing a lock-screen photo of a teenager holding up his middle finger to the camera — which summed up the professionalism we experienced that day. Broken promises: Multiple repair and refund commitments were made, then quietly withdrawn. Endless waiting: Replacement parts were sent out repeatedly, sometimes arriving weeks apart, only for us to be told we must wait again for an engineer to install them — a cycle that dragged on for months with no working sofa. Accessibility ignored: Even after explaining that a disabled person in the home was left without seating, DFS refused to escalate or prioritise. Prolonged payments: We had to keep up monthly finance payments for almost a year while DFS failed to act. Ombudsman outcome: The independent Ombudsman confirmed the service failings and ordered compensation, which DFS finally paid on 28 October 2025. This dragged on for around 60–80 emails, 15–20 phone calls, and three home visits — an absurd amount of time and energy for what should have been a simple purchase. Throughout, we stayed polite, transparent, and cooperative, keeping DFS, the finance provider, and the Ombudsman informed at every stage. DFS failed to uphold their own terms and conditions, yet hid behind them to delay resolution. If you’re thinking of ordering before Christmas, be warned: when things go wrong, you’ll need patience, persistence, and probably a spare chair — because you might be waiting months just for the parts to arrive.

Good selection of reasonably priced sofas. Staff were helpful to my queries and don't push you to buy, which personally I prefer. (When a salesperson jumps on me as soon as I look at something, I'm out of there!.). Will soon be going back to order the 2 sofas we were interested in after having a measure up at home.

Don't choose DFS worst experience ever , shocking customer care, aftercare poor, bought our sofas for delivery in November. They arrived the two delivery men brought them in very heavy handed. Ripping my sofa on entry. I said I didn't want them due to this. I was told we would leave them here and I'll contact customer care to reorder some new sofas. When putting them together I noticed there was a spare two legs on side. They tried telling me this sofa didn't need it. There a heavy 4 seater and was centre support. When reading instructions clearly stated they were requires I pointed it out. They tried fitting but couldn't find the holes but made two anyways which cracked the leg and the bottom of my sofa. When the delivery team left I contacted customer care to make sure they was aware they said the sofas couldnt be returned but could be repaired. I was fuming just paid all this money for some new sofas and to be told i would have to have them repaired. Back and forth and getting no where with damaged sofas my only options seemed to get them repaired. When and engineer came it was found the retaining nuts was never fitted in factory, the repair was made when I got home found out there was another rip made by the engineer in a different place. The engineer in total made 4 visits and still my sofas aren't as they should be . It's taken until now for them to other me compensation which they also messed up . Store DFS Brigg Area Manager/ Waste of time.Evangelene Do not buy from DFS Do not buy from Brigg store.

Yes 365 days from our first complaint… Yes 365 days from our first complaint to our sofas being returned and getting a FULL refund. DFS tried every trick in the book, but with the help and a visit from an independent furniture ombudsman, DFS finally had to admit they were wrong and our sofas were not fit for purpose. 7-4-17. We took delivery of 2 DFS three seater Peyton sofas in nubuck brushed leather. After a few weeks(especially on one sofa) the leather had gone all shiny, the foam in the seating had started to collapse and you sank right down in the middle or could not sit straight up at either end. On 8-8-17 we went into the Lincoln store where we had purchased the sofas and reported the condition. HERE IS A VERY BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE NEXT 12 MONTHS OF HELL. !!! 14-08-17. A visit from DFS service manager who stated he had more than 30yrs experience as a upholstery and all issues were normal and down to usage. 1-9-17. A visit from DFS sales manager who also said it was normal natural wear. 25-9-17. Went in to Lincoln store to see the manager, who was very rude, arrogant and did his best to patronize me saying his staff were right and I would have to accept it. 1-12-17. A visit from Top manager of Brigg and Lincoln stores, at last someone prepared to listen, he admitted the foam had collapsed, leather had gone shiny, and some stitching needed redoing. He would arrange for both sofas to be collected and re-foamed, leather to be treated and the stitching redone. 18-1-18. Sofas collected for repair. 31-1-18. Sofas returned, FOAM not replaced, just bodged. 1hr later sofas picked up again for further work. 15-2-18. Sofas returned again, cushions had lost all dome shape, they looked awful, they were solid and uncomfortable, leather looked the same, but the stitching had be repaired. 4-4-18. 2nd visit from DFS service manager, once again said sofas were ok, there was no problem with them, nothing more could be done. We then went back to the furniture ombudsman, sent photos, and information. 31-5-18. An independent furniture ombudsman came and the sofas, were given a full inspection. 19-7-18 Received Ombudsmans report agreeing with us, stating it would cost more to repair than it would to replace them, therefore DFS should take the sofas away and give us a full refund, all monies spent including delivery and cleaning kit. 25-7-18. Sofas taken back.!! 1-8-18. Money repaid, only to be £150 short. !!!! 6-8-18. £150 repaid. END OF SAGA. !!!!! We have not received any form of apology from DFS. If anyone has any problems similar keep records of, times, day, dates, names, take photos, write everything down. They will try to undermine you in every way they can to make you give up. BUY FROM DFS AT YOUR PERIL. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
