We had an absolutely brilliant time attending a Murder Mystery Evening at the beautiful Saltmarshe Hall. The event itself was absolutely fantasticβ€”incredibly engaging, well-run, and the hall provides the perfect, atmospheric setting for a night of intrigue and detection. We were completely engrossed in the game from start to finish! While I was too distracted solving the mystery to take pictures of all the courses, the food was great and certainly added to the enjoyment of the evening. The beef main course was delicious, and the Biscoff Tarte dessert was a wonderful finish. Highly recommend Saltmarshe Hall for their special events; it was a memorable night out!

Stayed one night. Room very comfortable with excellent bed and a clean modern large bathroom with a walk in shower which worked very well. TV reception was a bit intermittent but had Netflix etc. English breakfast was fairly good and not greasy. Sausage could have been browner to be more appealing. Fried eggs appeared to have sat around for a bit. Somewhat hard yolks. This boutique and interesting hotel is very reasonably priced for a lone traveller and is well positioned just off the M62. I will be very happy to return and expect to in the New Year.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was incredibly comfortable, beautifully designed with high-quality finishes that gave it a real touch of luxury. The staff were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The food was nothing short of exquisite – every meal was a delight, both in flavour and presentation. Overall, excellent value for money – I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough and will definitely be returning!

My husband and I had afternoon tea using a voucher we were given. We upgraded our voucher so we could visit the gardens. I spoke to Victoria twice about the voucher number. On entering the hall the receptionist booked us in and introduced us to our server ,who showed us to the lounge. Another couple were enjoying afternoon tea. My dairy intolerance was catered for. The lounge was lovely where the afternoon tea was served. Our server was Heather who brought my husband's tea and my fruit flavoured tea. Our food was delicious and well presented. You can read about the hall and it's history in a well presented booklet. Afterwards we wandered around the gardens. We were lucky enough to see a lovely old Bentley car used for weddings parked outside the hall.

A lovely welcome by staff who genuinely wanted to make our stay as good as they could. The rooms and public spaces have been sympathetically refurbished, all to a high standard. The gardens were lovely. The pool was clean and warm. Food was excellent. Howden is a lovely place we were fortunate to come across a lunchtime concert at the minster. The location of the hotel means that a car is pretty much essential ( taxis are rare). As it was warm when we visited, we slept with the windows open. Slight noise from kitchen fans and staff arriving early in the morning.

We stayed for one night but had a lovely three course meal in the evening and the breakfast was nice. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff were helpful. We'd have another (short) stay here again but the secluded location might become an issue with a longer stay as we like to explore further afield.

Superb afternoon tea at a very reasonable price, probably the best we have had. Great selection of sandwiches and cakes. Chloe our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We chatted about the house, owners and how she enjoyed working at the house. I recommend a walk around the garden but also go up onto the river bank and walk along the embankment. Would definitely recommend and return.

Beautiful stay at the Saltmarshe. We came for one night as a gettaway the day after our wedding, when we told the hotel they couldn’t do enough for us. The room was lovely, good amenities and as we were the only people staying we had a private drawing room to ourselves for dinner, at a reasonable additional price to the room. The grounds and setting made for a very romantic evening and the breakfast the next day was also lovely. Great staff, stunning surroundings. A hidden gem.

One of the best places for a wedding/event around. Utterly fantastic food(chef), and brilliant staff. Quiet atmosphere and excellent afternoon tea makes this a favourite of the family. Keep an eye out for events such as terrace dining, picnics that the venue hosts, as they are, in my opinion a must visit.

Went with friends for afternoon tea which was delicious. My husband is diabetic and I was pleasantly surprised when I was told there was another alternative to the sweet treats. He was actually brought a platter with meats, cheeses and olives, what a lovely and unexpected surprise. Staff very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend this lovely place.
