I am very satisfied with Boots, but unfortunately one of its security is always shelf to shelf after people are dealing with it. Honestly, it makes me very uncomfortable, and it’s always in the background. That’s why I’m reluctant to go back to Boots in Hanley.”

I have been shopping at this Boots for years. I approached the pharmacy for help with a product, and the staff member there was kind and helpful, so I was happy at the beginning of my visit. However, the experience quickly turned very negative. The African security guard working in the store seems to assume every customer is a shoplifter. When the customer is Asian, he follows you everywhere. This is stalking, not doing a security job. He followed me down every single aisle I went into. I couldn’t even read the ingredients on products or compare prices. Not every customer shops the same way, and I need to check ingredients carefully for personal reasons. I was on the phone, and I had to raise my voice and say, “They should not be treating customers like this—he is following me.” Only then did he leave me alone for about 15 minutes, before standing far away and staring at me again. Some staff members—especially in the perfume section—were kind and helpful, but the behaviour of the security guard was frightening. It felt like he was timing my shopping and deciding how long I should take. I mentioned this to the cashier when I went to pay, but he didn’t apologise and acted like he just wanted me to hurry up because another customer was waiting. It felt like the whole store supports this racist attitude and sees stalking as acceptable. I regularly spend more than £100 a month at Boots on skincare. If I wanted to steal, I certainly wouldn’t be spending that much. This behaviour is discriminatory and unacceptable. They are enabling abuse under the name of “safety.” The security guard even walked outside when I complained, so he clearly knew what he was doing. He stared at me again as I left, and I stared back. Security should protect the store from shoplifters—that is the job—but misusing that responsibility is wrong, and if his behaviour continues, I was prepared to speak to the police. I will never return to this store, and I would give 0 stars if possible. There is another SHOP in the Potteries Mall where customers are treated like human beings, supported, and given the freedom to shop. This store should realise they are not the only option, and customers do not have to tolerate this kind of abuse.

after a visit a very dismissive pharmacist I tried my look at boots. I spoke to the lady at the desk at the pharmacy. The lady was very understanding and met me with compassion about my issue and asked for me to see the pharmacist. The pharmacist was also very compassionate and prescribed me some things to help and has asked me to come back in a weeks time for her to review the condition. I'll always come to boots if I need to see a pharmacist in future. 10/10 service all round.

Went today and they had the most miserable person on tills, she even dropped the scanner on my hand and didn't even say sorry. She was proper rude as well. I mean they say don't quit your day job, I think she needs too. I will disclose her name as I am not a name shame person.

The staff that have been there a long time are happy to serve you at a till instead of using self serve. As a customer I like the loving service they give each individual. Well done to Charlotte and her team !

Must be staffed by ghosts. Feels like I have to hold a seance to summon anyone by phone or when visiting. I could set up home, raise the kids and grandkids before meeting anyone who worked there.

Contingency Plans What Are They? Called at Boots Market Square Hanley (Tuesday morning) opening hours both on the internet and on the doors stated the opening time was 08:30. On approaching the door I noticed the store was in virtual blackout at this point an assistant opened the door and snapped, “We’ve got no pharmacist we can’t open”, when I enquired how long “Don’t know – could be fifteen minutes”, I expressed my displeasure, and walked away. Once again, Boots seems to have rules that it manipulates for its own ends. Another local Boots branch states that it’s opening times are 08:30 for the store and 10:30 for the pharmacy, if the other store can open without a pharmacist at 08:30 why not this one. It appears that Boots doesn’t have contingency plans in place for unforeseen circumstances, such as the pharmacist (who I understand are NOT employed by Boots but are locums) not arriving, Not impressed!

I bought some shortbread and also some Belgian chocolate bars. The lady on the till was friendly and polite. I love this shop! One of my favourite stores in Hanley!
