    St Helens well is a natural spring that flows through the chalk hills of the Yorkshire wolds. On the road above the spring, there is a small lay-bye and information board, and a flight of steps cut into the hillside leading down to the well. The well is right next to the old railway track, now a popular hiking trail. There is also an information board on the edge of the railway track next to the well. It's a beautiful area for hiking, and the old track is very smooth and easy for walkers or cyclists. The bath the well flows into is thought to have been used for healing purposes.

    Always a little pretty area for a walk. There is a little ‘wildlife’ walk around circuit at the top ( last time I went it was over grown but it looked like some cutting had been done recently?)With the well being right on the old railway track it’s a lovely place for a walk that can lead in a few directions. Picture taken from the top of St. Helen’s well on the corner.

    This is a restored holy well, arising from the chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds. This geology is notorious for having little water, so the fact that this spring was deemed holy demonstrates that it never failed.

    Interesting never knew it was there. Mow looking for the springs which have been listed. Can be muddy. Lovely walk along the old railway. If you go to the well take ribbons to tie onto the tree. Which looks very colourful. Afraid not for wheelchair.

    A likely site of ancient pagan worship which is what I was looking for, great to read the history which is on a notice at the top of the steps/slope. Appears to be disabled access. This area is clearly loved and maintained by locals. Lovely to watch the jackdaws playing around their box.
