“When I first arrived at Northern College I didn’t conform to social norms. My behaviour was wild, and I was living with severe mental illnesses. I struggled to fit into any environment. At Northern, no one gave up on me. They saw the person behind the difficulties and helped me see that I was worth investing in. I've gone from not knowing 5+2 or the alphabet to gaining all distinctions in my Access to HE Diploma, and securing a place at my first choice university. Northern gave me the right support and saw potential in me that I couldn’t see in myself. They gave me the tools, patience, and positive belief. Slowly, I learned how to manage my illnesses, my social skills improved and I believed in my own abilities. This is proof that change is possible when you find the right place and the right people. “I love this place so much, if you want to be an actor, singer, dancer etc this place really can help a lot with your confidence or wanting that chance to appear on stage, they also have amazing workshops and the staff are really kind they are one of the nicest people I think I will ever meet. “What an improvement to the old site. I thought it was a shame when the old buildings, including the library were demolished (although this has now been relocated), but after what seems like a lifetime of mess and traffic chaos the new building is light, modern and an asset to the town. Comparable to any other it's one of the best I've seen and is now fully open and operational to sixth form students.”

I made work that surprised me and have a multitude of plans for other creative directions after the course. The on-line materials are excellent and short-course length was just right.
