Very tasty, but very expensive, also on the small size with portions, disappointing how small the cod is for £9 also a portion of chips £3.90,you hardly get a handful ,be doing my own in future, can get 3 of therir portions of fish from a cod loin costing £7 from Morrisons, seriously don’t know how they can justify the prices,my last cod wasn’t much bigger than a slice of bread

Popped in today, it’s been a long time. I used to work here many years ago. I spotted Jimmy but he didn’t recognise me… Anyway food I had tinned roe, scallops and a curry sauce. Good size roe and lovely crispy batter. Curry sauce was yummy but steep in price for a small. And scallops were great. Only downside was far too much salt applied by the server, it made the batter unpleasant in places. Still a good place to eat

Possibly the stingiest, not just chippy, but the stingiest food establishment I've ever had the displeasure of going to. £7.50 small Donner Meat & Chips (emphasis on the small) very bad value for money and the Doner meat was anaemic. Charge you an extra 30p per sauce unless on one of their massively overpriced tiny kebabs. Minimum £5 spend to pay on card (are we not in 2025?) and when you order, the staff give you the look of "how bloody dare you come in and make me do my job?" Also during beginning of Ukraine-Russia conflict they claimed all their prices must go up because they get their vegetable oil directly from Ukraine (smells like B.S to me) Avoid this place. The Cod Pot around the corner much better.

Presentation, price and taste were fantastic. The chips were all lovely and soft and chicken dinner meat was so tasty. Fast Delivery.

Loyal customers for years bit tonight's fish was the worst. Replacement was no better. Jim wouldn't have served this. Truly disgusting. Got plenty of photos. When I called to complain I was asked to return the fish like I was making it up.

Awful, cheep and nasty food, sold at a premium price. my fish was advertised as cod but definitely not cod it was either pollock or minchin and had been heated up from the day before, my sons kabab meat was dry and so thin you could see through it also the bbq sauce he had on it had gone off so he couldn't eat it, I called up to see if we could have another one sent out but the owner was Rude and aggressive and put the phone down on me, one of my neighbours said he had a similar experience and now go's to the cod pot a few steps up the road, we went today and I highly recommend nice food at a reasonable price.

Used to love Sophies for the fresh white flaky cod. Very disappointing as its gone downhill massively, the fish is grey, slimy, greasy and tastes awful like it was off before frying. The chips were the same, soggy and vile. The kebab was cold. Actually feel bad writing a bad review as ive been coming to Sophies for years. But this has been the case the last few times. Costs double but half the quality. Cost £16 for 2 meals and still have to cook

Best chip shop in South Birmingham for the food. But if you outright refuse card payment for orders under £10.00 you deserve to go out of business. And that's what they do here. Awful practice.
