   Enjoyed our one-night stay. Spacious room, comfy bed (and QUIET so slept well) very good breakfast and great coffee served by a very pleasant and obliging young man.

   Service and location, excellent. However, the food I would give only 3 stars. My disappointment was conveyed the the bar manager, who, afters offering his was apologese, stated, the (meagre) portion size was dictated by the parent company!☹️

   Absolutely shocking! - Do NOT recommend coming here at all. Have seen quite a few reviews regarding the staff and i certainly agree. Specifically, the "owner" think i caught his name as Russell, was disrespectful and rude and didn't even bother to move a finger regarding our issue! Definately has a power trip as the way he speaks to his paying customers is ridiculous. Won't ever come here again and won't recommend anyone too - food isn't the nicest either.

   For a budget hotel the Cat and Lion is an excellent choice. Our room was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The bright bathroom had a bath, shower and complementary soaps. There was a kettle with teas and coffees, a hairdryer, excellent wifi and plenty of sockets to plug in our chargers. I would have given it five stars except the TV had a problem with its aerial and could not get a signal. There was no-one at the reception desk when we arrived late afternoon but a note told us to go to the adjacent pub which we did and completed check-in there. Other than that the service was excellent as it was during the evening meal of good standard pub food. The location was excellent, just a few minutes off the motorway junction and yet it was very quiet in the room with no traffic noise to disturb your sleep. In summary this is a super hotel for a night's stay when traveling or visiting. We paid £50 for the room plus £15 for our dog which we considered excellent value. We did not have breakfast because we had to leave before 7am but the breakfast menu served from 7am onward looked good.

   I was treated to an early birthday meal today at The Cat and Lion, even thoug the place was quite busy our food arived quite quickly. As with every other visit here the food was delicious, the 2 courses and a drink is excellent value. The staff were very friendly and very attentive. If you are in the area The Cat and Lion is well worth a visit.

   The opening times advertised do not reflect the actual serving hours. I was led to believe that service would continue until 12 Friday and Saturday, 11 Mon-thu and 10 on sun, as advertised on their hours on Google, but they rang the bell at 10:20 pm with a full pub. I would recommend heading up the road a bit to a place that actually serves until they say they will. The staff refused to explain why they were closing early, they seemed more interested in an early finish than anything else.

   Very good festive meal, great service from lovely staff, ....but where was the Christmas atmosphere? Minimal decorations, no festively dressed tables? Where were the ridiculously cheap crackers? ....which at least raise a laugh and provide everyone with a silly hat. We were in a party of 8, we always have a good time, but hey, it's Christmas!!

   Did you know we were staying at the hotel adjacent to this pub and popped in for lunch. We both had fish and chips which came with a free drink. The food was amazing. Really tasty and good sized portions. The service was also really good. We went out for an evening meal and went back in here for drinks. You had got busier than lunchtime, and had a really nice vibe. Based on the food we had, and the great menu they have I would strongly recommend this place.
