I genuinely didn’t expect to witness a masterclass in how not to run a charity effort, but congratulations to this pub — they’ve outdone themselves. They loudly advertised a timeframe to raise money for cancer research, which was actually a nice idea… until they apparently got bored halfway through and just dropped it. Naturally, I asked the obvious question on social media: “Hey, what happened?” You’d think a business promoting a charity event might have, I don’t know, an answer. Instead, they chose the ultra-professional approach of blocking me. Yes, blocking. For daring to ask about something they promoted. I guess transparency is optional here, but the block button? Oh, that gets used with Olympic-level speed and commitment. If only their dedication to the fundraiser matched their enthusiasm for silencing customers. It’s honestly impressive — running away from a simple question faster than they ran away from their own charity timeline. If the goal was to look evasive and petty, then mission accomplished. So here’s the takeaway: if you like businesses that ditch cancer fundraisers midway and then hide behind the “block” feature when questioned, this place will absolutely thrill you. The rest of us, who appreciate honesty and basic accountability, might want to spend our time (and money) elsewhere.

I have never come across such a disgraceful pub in all my life, bar staff under age to begin with. spoken to and looked at like they had stepped in something when asking to be served. How we had to wait for the food and then had to send back numerous times because it wasn’t what I asked for and we have never had a issue when we have been before and we are regulars.since new management have taken over we have been in a couple of times and we WILL NOT be stepping foot back in the new Albion ever again. Disabled user being discriminated against while trying to have a drink with regulars being spoken down to and staff not even knowing where the disabled key is for the toilets! Shouldn’t this be a priority! Honestly would never come here again after the managers first weekend in the pub! Old managers welcomed us with Prosecco on the first night, absolute shambles what this pub has become now! staff were lovley when it first got taken over were treated with nothing but respect, the chefs would even come out the kitchen and great the regulars which I think is wonderful. The tall chef with the glasses he is lovley and the young girl chef is amazing! Everyone always helped you out no matter what. But even when asked for a disabled key they had no clue and just stood there gormless at the bar not knowing! Managers also no where to be seen? Makes 0 sense the old managers would always be interacting and would answer everyone’s questions and treated eveyone with the respect the customers needed.

We had our staff team meal last week and have been to the New Albion several times since it has changed management. We’ve had various meals, particularly enjoying the lamb, steak, loaded fries and chicken feast. This has been the place my family have been going for years, back to the original Albion days. It took a serious dip as the Cook House but since Stephen & Jake have taken over, it’s regained its atmosphere and charm. I approached Stephen about supporting Halton Cancer Support, a local charity and he was very eager to get involved. He sought opinion and support from the public and began to create a relationship with our work, supporting our annual 5K event. They couldn’t do enough to help and support us. They elevated our event, extending it into the evening, attracting new supporters for our charity and new customers in their lovely pub. We’ve enjoyed great food and drinks every time we’ve been. This has lead to me booking for a party of 18 near to Christmas and my family are booked in for Christmas Day lunch. I don’t think we would have engaged as a charity or returned as a family without the warmth and friendliness of Stephen, Jake, and their team. Thank you for bringing some joy back to an old Widnes favourite, and for bringing it back to life with your own added sparkle.

Carvery isn't the best, I will avoid that next time I visit. The place though is clean and tidy with good service. I will give the main menu a go next time. My daughter had the sausage and mash and it looked delicious

Made a last minute booking for family of 7 today (Sunday) Got a lovely welcome from the friendly staff. The food was delicious and brilliant value and great service. We had a mix of orders, carvery, steak sandwich, chicken burger, pasta. It was all really tasty! The desserts were equally nice. We will definitely be coming back.

My wife and I had a very pleasant lunch from the winter warmer menu. Staff on duty were all very friendly and made the experience all the more pleasant. The carvery meal and dessert were excellent and the meal was good value for money in our opinion.
