Don’t walk past this place if you’re looking for breakfast. Came with friends on a Sunday, we walk down the street looking for somewhere to have breakfast and so glad we stumbled across this place. We had bagels and halloumi and both were delicious.
Went for brunch and was so impressed with the service! The food was absolutely fantastic and definitely worth every penny. The atmosphere and design were lovely! Definitely recommend it ♥️
Very popular place but not sure why based on our recent visit, maybe we were just unlucky. The beer was warm (as in room temperature), and all of our pizzas were wet and uncooked in the middle. Wine seems on the expensive side as well
LOVE coming here. Atmosphere is always cosy but vibrant. They constantly do jazz nights and food night. I came today (Monday evening) and it was a bit quieter but it was still a lovely atmosphere. The team are friendly, i just love visiting.
A very interesting venue over 3 areas plus outside seating. On a sunny Friday lunchtime it was pretty busy with people of all ages, including families with young children and I think they are also dog friendly. As I waited for my coffee it was interesting to see people come in to collect bagel orders to take away. I loved the decor in the small bar area where I had my coffee and thought it was a very nice touch that every table throughout the venue had a small vase with real flowers. Great coffee, strong and flavourful!
Attended here Thursday evening for my Birthday. Very disappointing considering some of the reviews. The menu is very limited. I opted for a carbonara which I could swear they had just emptied a packet of pork scratchings in a very salty cheese sauce with pasta! One glass of white wine was £10 - supposed to be a sauvignon but was quite sweet. Friends shared a bottle of red which was extremely cold. (also very pricey) Thought most establishments know red is not served cold. Poor excuse was that it had just come up from the cellar. I for one will not be returning.
We came for vacation for Christmas and they treated us graciously! A great way to end our day at this pub!! Absolutely amazing staff and great drinks!! Definitely recommend to anyone in the area!
Having gone a bit downhill the Angel seems to be back on form and then some! Great pizza/pasta team now on site and the wine list is finally wine I want to drink. Was buzzing on the two recent nights that we've been. So much so, we've cancelled out Xmas eve at the Star in the City and are coming to the Angel instead! Ps we love the staff too, especially Josh!
We visited on Friday night while in York for the weekend for a friend's 50th Birthday celebrations. The team at the Angel on the Green could not have been more accommodating - allowing us to drop balloons in for the table in the afternoon before our booking and also providing several great vegan options for me too! Our table was set up when we arrived and looked great! Such a lovely relaxed & friendly atmosphere - and the food & wine was fantastic. The team really made us feel welcome and clearly love what they do - plus it was great value too! It's a short Uber ride from the city centre (where our Airbnb was) to Bishopthorpe Road and definitely worth it! Highly recommend the chilli nachos and the pizzas - both were superb! My friends had the Salt & Pepper Squid to start and ordered an extra portion as it was so good! Cannot thank the team at Angel on the Green enough for a fantastic start to our weekend of celebrations! Look forward to visiting again next time in York!!
