   Had a wonderful experience at Toby Carvery, badgers mount today. Firstly it was hands down the best carvery I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was also very friendly and welcoming. I would like to say a special thank you to Nanette who was very attentive, friendly and helpful. She was very knowledgeable and understanding of my daughter’s gluten intolerance and she offered to have the meal prepared separately out the back for her, to avoid any problems with her dietary needs. This put us at ease because my daughter was able to enjoy her meal without any concerns. This service went above and beyond anything we have ever experienced before when eating out in other establishments. Thank you so much. We will be back

   When you go to a place regularly you hope that someone there will remember you and your preferences. It makes the experience easy. I come on average once a week with my daughter and from the first time Emma has taken care of us really well. Today, she remembered what I drink better than I did and checked with me before it came out. Service this attentive has been really hard to find in my experience and aside from the consistent quality of the food, Emma is pretty much the only reason we go here every week rather than going to any of the plethora of other options in the area.

   Travelling community eat here, be warned! Ended up unfortunately eating here as we couldn't get a table at Polhil because it was packed. We hadn't booked and being as Wednesday we were hopeful we'd be seated. The main restaurant was busy but the lady who served us said we could get a table at the bar. This was fine for us, I was hungry and looking forward to lunch. My first complaint is with the person/chef cutting the meats at the carvery my gosh he doesn't let you finish your sentence. He immediately puts a Yorkshire pudding on your plate even though you didn't ask for one. I saw the same Yorkshire pudding ending up on four different plates then taken back off again. Overall I found him bordering quite frankly on being rude. If he's not got the patience to let people finish their sentence quite honestly he shouldn't be there. After we sat down and began eating. a big family group walked in and the three women in the family stared at me I immediately felt very uncomfortable. Then they accepted that was their table and began discussing what they were having to drink in the most obnoxiously loud voices I've ever heard almost shouting at each other for no real reason. When the whole restaurant had been at a good noise level throughout our visit thus far. The loud talking (shouting) continued I heard everything, EVERYTHING! what their aunty was doing, what someone's mum would think of some makeup or other (news flash I don't care!). I soon realised that they had come from the travelling community not far from here probably out for a birthday meal or something. I have no disrespect for your background it's non of my business but my god have some respect when you are out in public. We do not all need to know about your family lives especially when we are trying to have a quiet meal with our own family. This ruined my meal with my family I couldn't get out quick enough believe me I won't be back.

   Amazing food and lovely staff, with a few minor issues - the refillable drinks were flat rather than fizzy on the day I visited. The cost is a little steeper than it used to be as well, though fairly reasonable - and the option to go back for second helpings of vegetables makes it worthwhile. This particular branch is split between a restaurant and a bar, with the latter having a lot of space that doesn't seem to get used as much - on visits like my most recent one, a shame as it results in feeling a bit hemmed in with other tables. By no means a bad experience overall though.

   Service was great and it was easy to book a table but the food was a real disappointment. We had the carvery (which we have had before in this branch) but the quality seems to have gone downhill. Most of the meat we were served was fat and the potatoes were inedible. Sides and veg was ok though some a little underdone. Another thing I was shocked about was that there were no working toilets. Gents was out of order and ladies had 1 toilet open which was blocked and filled to the brim with water. Shockingly dirty and no one was attending to it. Don’t expect to come out to eat and not be able to use the toilet or wash my hands. Based on this visit, I wouldn’t return or recommend I’m afraid. Edit: Thanks for the reply Ben, however the points you raised weren’t really relevant to my experience. I visited yesterday afternoon, not today.

   Booked in advance. Taken straight to table when we arrived. Friendly table service, drinks order taken straight away. Waiter checked we were ok, gave us time to eat and allowed us time after our meal to look at desserts and order. We go for Sunday dinner regularly to a badgers mount. It’s our favourite Toby carvery by far. Very friendly staff, lovely food, always fresh and lots of choice.

   A party of 7 to celebrate my mothers birthday. Perfect carvery, hot, great selection of fresh veg, hot gravy and full sauce selection. Fabulous dessert selection. Friendly, attentive service and did not feel pressured to leave, as we probably did stay a little too long due to family meet-up! Thank you from us all for a lovely meal and a very enjoyable afternoon. Will definitely recommend and will be back!
