Lovely place. Driven past so many times but went in out of curiosity. Amazing food, we had Korma and Masala with Pilau and Garlic rice. Naan breads were brilliant too. Had multiple serving staff see to us, wonderfully polite and friendly but Samin stood out. Excellent service and atmosphere. Will 100% be returning.
We went on a Saturday night, it was extremely busy and the restaurant was quite noisy. We waited some time for our main courses but the food was faultless when it did arrive. My partner waited over 10 minutes for a second drink. We will be back but we will probably get takeaway or visit on a less busy evening next time.
We came here tonight for the first time after seeing so many amazing reviews in the Ormskirk group. So glad we did, favourite restaurant we’ve been for a while. The food was gorgeous and authentic. The staff were so lovely and attentive. Can’t wait to come back thank you!
We've been meaning to visit Nellie for a while after driving past it countless times... we've been missing out! Easily the best Indian we have enjoyed in quite some time, from the food to the service & authentic music - truly excellent. Curries can often be oily but the meat was so tender & the sauces bursting with flavour. The portions & prices were also spot on. The staff were fantastic, making sure our little girl was well looked after & she made friends with our waiter, Abdul. We'll be back and will happily recommend Nellie to anyone who will listen. Apologies for the amateur pics, we were too busy tucking in! They really don't do the food justice.
OMG.......been coming to Nellie's fir a few months mostly takeaways but occasional dine in.....always have the mutton and potato not because the other food is poor because this dish in my opinion is excellent and truly authentic. I had the same tonight but ordered a Madras sauce......off the scale....not in terms of heat but the mixture a d blend of spices...warm, smoky , a triumph of flavour. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favour and give this place a visit before you have to book three weeks in advance. Neil

I’d been really looking forward to my first visit to Nellie but was disappointed. Entrance/Lounge area was a mess, menus and beer mats strewn on the floor and was cold. Couches have also seen better days, not a good first impression. Nobody came to take our drinks order as promised. After being seated and our orders taken, we felt bombarded by over attentive staff. After being disturbed 5 times within 5 minutes, by various staff, I had to ask them to please leave us alone! The food took a long time to arrive and we had to chase it up. My partner went to the loo and commented that they were a bit of a mess also. On leaving the gents a member of staff asked if he’d used the hand drier because most men come out wiping their wet hand on their trousers. He thinks it was an attempt at a joke but just plain weird. I’ve given 3 stars because we enjoyed the food but sorry Nellie, that will be our first and last visit.
What can I say??? I booked a table last minute and had an excellent Indian banquet!! Our starters were delicious and main course exquisite!! The chicken shashlik was a large delicious platter and my wife's prawn passanda had very tender king prawns and to finish the deserts were a delight. We also liked not being pestered all night asking if we wanted drinks only being asked when our glasses were empty. In all a fantastic night out!!!
We've been driving past this place for years and always meant to visit. So so glad we decided to. Delicious food with plenty of veggie options that was brought out in a timely manner. Staff couldn't have been more attentive, we were never without drinks. Ali especially was lovely; felt properly taken care of. I went with the paneer shashlick starter and veg samber with garlic naan and was really impressed. The building itself was also decorated beautifully and really spacious. Plenty of parking. Definitely coming back!
