“Went in for a couple of drinks on Saturday, it was fantastic to be fair. The service was good and the beer and wine tasty, we will be back.”

“Went with an old school friend for a beer and catchup over a game of snooker. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I liked how only one of us needed the membership as can bring a guest. The staff could have not told us this as we both asked for membership and this saved us a bit of money. Will definitely be back! Thanks”

“Popped in to the pub today to try it as it’s under new management - really nice family, very welcoming and drinks were good. Kitchen opening soon so haven’t tried the food yet but we spoke to Alfi who will be managing the kitchen and is a really nice guy with great plans for food from next weekend. Also dog friendly - they made a big fuss of our dogs and they had the wood burning stove lit which created a lovely cozy place to stop on our walk. We will definitely be back to try the food and some more drinks. We hope the wider community supports them as well as this used to be a great pub on the canal to stop at and they really want to return it to that - we wish them success and happiness at The Slipway.”

“This pub may sometimes get missed/misjudged by people not familiar with it. Security, bar staff, entertainers - all helpful and welcoming. It caters for a mixed clientele' young to old, guaranteed an enjoyable evening and with what I consider the best pint of Fosters in town.”

“Had a delightful dining experience at this restaurant. Our servers, Kat, vicky, and Namida, were excellent, providing attentive and friendly service. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a rude encounter with the supervisor, who not only exhibited poor manners but also got my order wrong. Despite this, the overall ambiance and the efforts of the servers made the meal enjoyable.”

“Stopped off for a meal after days bird watching at Martin Mere. Glad we'd booked a table as place was really busy. Nice welcome when we arrived and service was efficient without being obtrusive. Generous portions and the homemade steak pie was delicious. Very reasonable prices too. Will be back.”

“Went on a Sunday and it was very busy, good job we had booked a table for 5. We had black pudding, nachos and pork belly, followed by 4 roasts and 1 pie. 3 of us had to force ( we were already full) on of the best crème brûlée ever. We will be back”

“Friday 18th April 2025 Today, I came to this cosy and friendly micro pub This pub was full of local clentelle drinking mostly a pint of real ale. There were 4 hand pumps on today. 3 real ales and a real cider The staff were ace The beers i had /a Hawks Head pale/was in fine fettle This pub, when drinking real ale in Ormskirk, is a must to come and have a pint in Saturday 14th November 2025 Today I again visited this superb micro/real ale bar This 1 roomed pub had 4 hand pulled ales on offer from local and small breweries Friendly well run easy going pub with great clientelle easy going background music This pub for real ales is a essential visit when in Ormskirk”

“The daughter dropped me off with her two dogs to mind while she had to do girly stuff !! Some 3 hours later, I got picked up In them 3 hours staff were excellent with keeping me hydrated!! But more importantly, the dogs were treated with a bowl of cold water First time in establishment, very friendly attentive staff , i will definitely go again without the two pooches Thank you for the hospitality”

“Had the most amazing evening in miller and carter in aughton. How the lovely Lucy kept up with the menu choices was beyond me. We had a choice of festive, Xmas and a la carte and ordered from them all so goodness knows how she did it. Hope she’s here when we come back which we deffo will xxxx”

“We went on a Saturday night, it was extremely busy and the restaurant was quite noisy. We waited some time for our main courses but the food was faultless when it did arrive. My partner waited over 10 minutes for a second drink. We will be back but we will probably get takeaway or visit on a less busy evening next time.”

“It is decades since I was last at the Kicking Donkey. Went on a whim on a late Saturday lunchtime. Turned out to be a great decision - the food was lovely at reasonable prices for quality and portion size. The service was spot on; helpful and pleasant without being over the the top. “Great New Years evening with delicious food and amazing atmosphere We came soon after the first lockdown and had to sit outside as inside was closed but still enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. We wanted to return and NYE was the best excuse, and not the last time either. The food was hot and tasty just as stated on the menu. I had asked for a couple of changes and this was done with no fuss to allow me to have the dish the way I wanted. All the staff were working hard but in a relaxed Manor which came across as a friendly place to sit back, relax and enjoy the evening. 100% chilled vibes and top notch food.”

“Got to say first of all - non-members are welcome particularly if you’re here for the beer. Only one cask ale on at the mo and that’s Wainwright’s Amber. I’m told that’s what the regulars prefer but how can you guide them to better ales if no there’s are available? A fantastic building that should see all this RAAC concrete out. Take a look at it then get drawn inside - you won’t be disappointed.”
