It used to be Benson's in the 1980s. I didn't eat any food. The staff were great. I have a lot of memories in this boozer going over 20 years. Seems to be for the older crowd these days. Worth a visit.

Had a lovely time in this bar this week. Me and my partner went in for a couple of drinks and a few games of pool. The bar was nicely decorated and had an extra part upstairs and a small outdoor sitting area. We returned later that evening to experience the karaoke night which was great including one of the bar tenders getting up and singing. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back next time we are visiting manchester.

Came here for a staff night out and was asked to leave despite spending nearly £250 on drinks for work colleagues. Because the floor was wet and slippery from where someone had spilled drinks. The door staff removed me from the venue and wouldn’t allow me or any of my work colleagues to collect my jacket. Also the door staff were so rude and accused me of being rude and racism towards them. When asked to see the door staff sia badge and information they refused to give it despite going in to get the bar manager. I went in today to try and collect my jacket that had my wallet and personal items in and it’s now gone missing. None of my work colleagues picked it up last night when we left.

What a fantastic venue with welcoming and friendly staff. As soon as you walk in it feels like your own local as it’s so welcoming which is rare in a city. Music on Saturday afternoon was really fantastic - I'll defo be back here next time I’m in Manchester

Smart & well priced "sports bar" close to the National Football museum . Well laid out with great seating options, booths with screens & decent enough food. Staff are friendly quick & efficient. Great place to watch sport...

Not been in this pub for while but called in on Friday, It was good to see that Phil still works there, He made us both feel very welcome ,excellent bar service and the drinks were a good price .Even though we didn't eat there the food looked nice and we will probably try it the next time we call in

Been at this place for the first and last time. In all my life eating out, I never experienced anything like this and to be honest I didn’t know it was allowed. My partner booked a table on the 10/12/2022 for 4 people at 3pm (2 adults and 2 teenagers), a £40 deposit was required. When we arrived the pub was packed (we hardly could move), and we couldn’t find our table (there were cards with the names that tables were assigned to, but we needed to get close to be able to read). All tables were taken and finally we noticed some guys left our table. The table was dirty and with only 3 chairs. We were told by a not too well dressed waiter (he was collecting glasses with his fingers inside the glasses and I hope he was washing his hands every time he was going to the kitchen) that we needed to use the app. When trying to order, the app doesn’t ask anywhere for our details so it can deduct the deposit when paying (it looks more like a scam), my partner had to go and order on the busy bar. It taken for ever for the starters to come, they were disgusting (frozen food that you can get from Tesco). The dip fried mushrooms were watery inside, the chicken wings were burned, and my cauliflower wings was frozen, no one around to help. I had to go to the bar that we hardly could move. When I pointed out to the girl behind the bar that my starter was frozen (not presentable dressed), her reply was “oh s**t” - very vulgar. It taken about 10 minutes to get the starter back and it was disgusting, it was burned and tasteless (see picture). Eventually a waiter with an England T-shirt top came around to clean the plates and asked if we were having main courses (staff doesn't seem to know what's going on). The main courses have taken forever to come, and everything was so tasteless (I was concerned that we may get food poisoning). It doesn't seem to be any care or safety for your customers. The food standards doesn't seem to be up to standard and the staff aren't (in my opinion) presentable to interact with your customers. Your staff came across untrained and it looked that they have no conditions to work.

Another great experience at The English Lounge… an 80th private party recently, where everyone had a great time. The staff, as always, very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Particular thanks to Michael, Kieron and Dannie for looking after us all.

Situated opposite the food court of the Arndale shopping centre. First visit in about 5 years. Can get very busy but fine on a Wednesday lunchtime. Had a choice of Landlord or Doom Bar; no choice really..excellent Landlord. A Moorhouses beer waiting to be ready to serve. Fairly standard food menu. £12.50 fish n chips, £12.49 pie n mash. Similar price for burgers. Well worth a visit. Two upstairs rooms and a small secret roof garden.
