We had a family festive lunch at Fischer's, Baslow Hall in mid December. Whilst we initially booked for 9 family members, this was unfortunately gradually dwindled down to 6 people due to various people having to pull out for different reasons. Fischers were however very understanding and updated the booking each time with no issues. When we arrived in the day we were fortunate enough to have been allocated the "wine room", which is a small private room seating up to about 9 people. We found the service to be a very pleasant mix of formal and yet friendly at the same time, epitomised I think by the Australian waitress from Byron Bay. Everyone was addressed as Sir and Madam for example, but we shared fun chat and stories etc during the lunch. Food itself was absolutely first class. Not one person found anything to complain about from any of the dishes we enjoyed (we had 3 courses). Highlights included the mushroom "croissant" starter which was truly excellent, and the beef rib main course. All in all an excellent experience and I suspect we will be back when next passing through. (We had all travelled around 2 and a half hours to 'meet in the middle' given some family in Yorkshire and others in Hertfordshire ). Many thanks to all of you for a great afternoon

I had one of the best stays Iβve ever had at Fischer Baslow Hall. Everything just felt warm and welcoming from the start. The staff are absolutely lovely and clearly passionate about what they do. The βKitchen Benchβ experience was such a highlight. I had just come from dining in Paris and at a Michelin restaurant the night before, and this still stood out as something truly special. Itβs immersive, fun to watch, and definitely worth it. The way the chefs talked through what they were making made me appreciate each dish, and getting to see their perspective added so much to the experience. They were also genuinely great company, which made the whole thing even more enjoyable. I also really appreciated how close the property is to Chatsworth House. Even though this was just a one-night stop as I transitioned from England to Scotland, it turned out to be the perfect respite. Calm, restorative, and memorable in all the best ways.

We're biased as we've been coming here for 15 years. It has always been consistent in quality of food and service and, if anything the food has improved over the last couple of years. When we came first it had a Michelin star, but it's easily worth 2 Michelin stars. We have stayed and the hotel experience matches the dining and the building and garden provide a beautiful setting.

Highly recommend this hotel, very nice! Warm welcome was received. The garden is beautiful and you can walk around to enjoy the natureβs beauty. I have to mention the breakfast was amazing! Especially the berry smoothie, bread and jam! The hotel can even help book restaurant nearby and cover the travel expenses. The service is indeed very good.

I booked a solo dining experience on the kitchen bench at the end of August. This was my first foray into fine dining and I was not disappointed. From the moment I was greeted at the door, I was made to feel incredibly welcome. The taster menu and whole kitchen bench experience was just wonderful. It was more relaxed than I was expecting which suited me perfectly! The food was exceptional - I was presented with a wide range of dishes which gave me the opportunity to try things that I hadn't before and I enjoyed every moment. Whilst the food itself was wonderful, it was the restaurant and kitchen staff that really took my visit to another level. Everyone was very warm and friendly, not to mention attentive. I was looked after incredibly well, especially by John's team in the kitchen. Thank you for such a fantastic experience and I definitely plan to return.

Had a lovely one night stay with a la carte meal and breakfast. We had a fabulous experience. The food and wine is simply exquisite. The meat and fresh water fish dishes are definetely recommended. Cote de Rhone red wine is top notch and tea and biscuits in rooms are also really good quality. The grounds are spectacular and highly recommended if you want to celebrate a special occasion.

We had to cancel our trip for a family reason and let them know 1 day before the trip and they didn't accept it, and immediately got all the booking fee from the bank account. Decorating a building is not enough to be a good hotel. Hospitality needs humanity. Think twice before making reservations.
