   Joy King Lau isn't just a restaurant; it's our essential spot for authentic Cantonese cuisine in Central London. We come here all the time, and the consistency and quality keep us returning—it is, quite simply, the best dim sum experience in Chinatown. The food is amazing. Every dish we order is executed to perfection. The Har Gow (prawn dumplings) are delicate and plump, the Siu Mai is juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the Cheong Fun is silky smooth. They are masters of their craft, and eating here is always a deeply satisfying experience. What truly elevates every visit, however, is the dedicated and friendly service. The entire team treats us so well, but we must give special recognition to our favourite waiters, Jia and Ahan. Jia is always so welcoming and attentive, often anticipating our needs before we even have to ask. Ahan is equally professional and makes the entire dining process seamless and efficient, ensuring we have a relaxing and joyful meal every time. Their friendliness and professionalism make us feel like family. If you are looking for top-tier dim sum and service that is consistently excellent, Joy King Lau is the only choice. Highly, highly recommended!

While the dim sum here is genuinely top-tier—the food is amazing and always leaves us delighted—what truly transforms this restaurant into an institution is the exceptional, personalized service. We come here all the time, and every visit feels special thanks to the incredible team. In particular, we want to recognize Jia and Ahan. These two fantastic waiters treat us so well, making us feel instantly welcome the moment we step through the door. Jia is always so personable and attentive, handling a busy dining room with grace while still making sure our table is perfectly looked after. Ahan is equally brilliant—professional, quick, and always ready with a smile. Their dedication ensures a smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable experience every single time. As for the cuisine, the execution is flawless. The dim sum is fresh, flavourful, and consistently the best we've found.    Everything we ordered was top-notch — the dim sum was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The beef noodles were incredibly savory with tender meat and just the right amount of spice. The cucumber salad was light, crisp, and refreshing — a perfect complement to the richer dishes. And don’t even get me started on the egg tarts… buttery, flaky, and warm from the oven. The service was fast and friendly,. We left full and happy, already planning our next visit. Highly recommend Joy King Lay if you’re craving delicious Chinese food!

   Love this place for the quality normally. Food 4/5 (The capital ribs usually fall off the bone but we had 2 portions this time with chewy pork. The mixed Dim Sum platter and vegetable spring rolls were nice but nothing amazing. The Schezuan Chicken, egg fried rice and Singapore noodles are recommended and very nice. Service: 2/5 (fast with no charisma or connection and a service charge of 12.5%! Optional...yes but you'll get attitude). Vibe: 3/5 (80s British-Chinese restaurant decor; nothing plush). Value: 3/5. £51/head is not worth it! Overall: I will go again but will clarify if the ribs will be as expected before ordering. With these prices, I won't be going back as much but that doesn't stop other people lining up outside on a Saturday evening! If you're keen, book in advance as it's very popular despite all of this.

   Visited this restaurant for lunch while visiting the theatre to watch Book of Mormon and it was brilliant. The restaurant is split between 4 floors and is big but the service is super quick. We also managed to get a seat with a minimal wait. We went for a mix of Dim Sum and mains for lunch. The dim sum tasted great and was generous. The mains were great, I went for a roasted pork rice and the portion was huge and tasted amazing! The prices were great compared to quality of the food which might be a reason why the place was full when we visited. Highly recommended!

   Personally, the food tasted decent, the service was decent and the atmosphere was fine. But the portions however were a bit small for the prices they charged. They offer a wide variety of dishes which makes it a great place for larger parties for sure. The service was pretty slow, it took approximately an hour before we were served the first dishes. The plating and presentation were not as good as a lot of other places, since the plates were so much bigger than the food contained inside. So even though the portions could have been decent, it still didn't look so. The flavours were decent. The shrimps were however too salty and the vegetables were too bland but the overall tasted decent.

   The quality of food has dropped considerably compared to the price increase since the pandemic. In particular, the Crispy Orange Duck food was too shabby at the end of the season. It became so thin that I couldn't even taste the duck flavor. Instead of oranges, used lemons for decorations... It was delicious to eat with sliced ​​oranges.. Also, the price written on the receipt is only the total price, so I can't know the exact price. .
