We had a nice coffee at the Bank Note Cafe before going up the Heights of Abraham. The prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly. Only criticism is the interior and toilets could do with a freshen up

Couldn't have done more for us this weekend, even opened early to accomodate our group and everyone raved about the breakfast! Food was delicious and really well priced. Excellent service will visit again. Thankyou for having us!

Been in this pub many times, we tried to go in tonight at 6.55 with our 11 year old child to be told children are not allowed, even though the website says until 9pm and we have taken her in before, won't be visiting again even when she isn't with us

Excellent food provided by a warm and welcoming host, we ordered turkey dinner with mash, jacket potatoes, coffee, how chocolate and everything was pretty awesome! Will be back again should I come back to the area!

When in Matlock Bath there is only one place to go - The Bank Note! The owner is so friendly, hospitable, helpful and kind, more than that 100% dog friendly. We have visited on several occasions and each time we are greeted with a warm welcome. The dogs always get treats in the form of biscuits and yummy sausages. The food is excellent, great choice on the menu and there’s a lovely atmosphere wherever you sit (inside or out). If you haven’t been here - you must go, you won’t be disappointed!

We stopped by for an early lunch. At first we were a little hesitant as there weren't that many customers but after my son went in to chat with the owner, the first thing he said was that the owner seemed friendly so we went in. We're really glad we did as not only was the food good but the service was fantastic. We got to chatting with the owner, Paul, and he was really warm. We got to talking about the show Peaky Blinders and I wasn't that familiar with it. Paul disappeared and then came back with a Flat Cap as a gift for me to remember him by. I mean, who does that for their patrons? To top it off, my son accidentally spilled his (almost finished) coffee and not only did Paul come by to clean it up (he kept telling my son not to worry about it as accidents happen), he then showed up with a brand new cup of coffee and insisted that it was on the house. I've not experienced such hospitality in any of my travels around the world so I'm really surprised by the negative comments on service here. Someone made a comment here that the owner may be biased towards certain ethnicities and being Asian, we felt no biasness. In fact he joked about how it was international day at his shop with us Asians and the other table being from New Zealand. It's a nice family run place so if diners are fair/friendly, I'm sure Paul and family/staff would reciprocate. We highly recommend this place and will be stopping by the Bank Note Cafe when we visit Matlock Bath again!
