Called in today after seeing some recommendations. It didn't disappoint - great service and I had a Posh Fish Finger sandwich and hubby had a Cheeseburger. Both really nice and the chips were lovely. Busy with people just drinking but also food orders. Great setting to see some views! Highly recommend.

Absolutely immaculate Sunday lunch, both pork and lamb were devine, piping hot selection of vegetables, lovely crisp & fluffy roast potatoes, and terrific homemade gravy. Well looked after by an excellent team of staff and the most humble, friendly and down-to-earth landlord in Matt. Thanks to all involved, we had a wonderful time and will be returning real soon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Rivelin is a lovely pub and I would presume a very nice place to stay at. I have only ever visited to dine in so cannot comment on what it is like to stay here. I've been a few times now and each time it has been a delight. The food never lets me down, the staff are friendly, attentive and welcoming and the location is beautiful. In the past I have had the cheesy mushrooms starter which is out of this world, these are clearly prepared in house, they're nothing like anything I have ever had before. The mushrooms they use are on the larger side, as such the amount of cheese the manage to stuff in with them is also on the larger side, making for a cheese-lover's dream starter. I have also had the prawn cocktail starter, a generous portion of tasty prawn cocktail on a bed on leaves with some buttered bread. Happiness on a plate. Mains continue the trend of stunning food, with the scampi, you're given a hearty portion of scampi and chips, everything tasting and being presented in a very mouth-watering manner. Despite being off the 'Snacks and Lite Bites' section of the menu, the sandwiches and jacket potatoes will NOT leave you hungry. A jacket potato with cheese and beans definitely will kick that appetite for a good few hours. The bbq pulled pork sandwich is stuffed to the brim, no vacant bread to be seen, along with the coleslaw it is served with makes for a solid lunchtime meal. Mains come with a side salad too, each and every time I've visited the salads are very fresh, the cucumbers, tomatoes, leaves, peppers never look like they're on the turn and are healthily crunchy. I've never had a dessert here but I would be glad to, one day. The Rivelin is definitely worth a visit from hungry customers or worn out walkers alike. It is set towards the end of the Rivelin Valley so park a little bit away from the pub and take a nice scenic walk through the valley along the river! This really is a fantastic place to come and eat. One note - I'd recommend booking if visiting in the evening, particularly on peak days such as Friday and the weekend. It seems people are aware of just how nice The Rivelin is and do visit in the evenings!

Honestly it was okay. The food was really good. Had better it was enjoyable though. Have to admit though the staff got a few things wrong which was admittedly a bit annoying. Some of it just basic things as well. They all seem quite young but still though. Didn't exactly ruin it I've got to knock the visit down a bit for that though. Where it's based is great though. The views are stunning outside they really are. Overall it was pretty good. Not the best though I can't lie.

Set in a very picturesque area this public house goes over and above to provide good service, good food and drink, with a smile. If you want well prepared, home cooked food then visit here. We had a lovely Birthday family meal for my niece. All went to plan and the wonderful staff were so attentative. Thank you to all. You deserve the custom.

Fantastic location for views, though not all the sitting areas make good use of it, so if you go for the views either sit outside or choose carefully once you are in. Didn't go for the rooms, just the restaurant. Nothing unusual or particularly exciting, but the basic pub grub is all represented and the portions are good. The trio of roasts avoided forcing me to make a decision which to get, which was a bonus. Smaller portions come as 2 meals for 12 quid, which you can't really complain at. Slightly busy so when we (and the table next to us) tried to place a quick food order along with drinks, the order fell on deaf ears until our waiter was ready to come back and serve (pressably staggering orders for the kitchen's benefit)
