We needed accommodation near to Tatton Park. This was perfect. Easy to get to, lots of parking and a quiet location. The hotel was nicely decorated, clean and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a family room which had a huge bed. We were all very comfortable and had a great night's sleep
We recently celebrated our wedding reception at The Merlin in Alderley Edge, using the Asahi Cube — and everything exceeded our expectations. The venue itself is stunning, with a beautiful setting that's perfect for a celebration. Our hotel rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. But what truly made our experience exceptional was the service we received from the staff. A special thank you to: Martin – From looking after our stay and arranging a late breakfast, to keeping things spotless and ensuring everything ran smoothly — thank you for going above and beyond. Scott – An outstanding server during the reception, who handled even last-minute requests without delay. James – Incredibly helpful, assisting with heavy lifting and going out of his way to help us when we needed it most. Jemma – Thank you for your support and attentiveness. Brad – Friendly and efficient at reception. Jackie – A wonderful housekeeper who ensured our rooms were immaculate. Every single staff member played a role in making our stay so enjoyable and stress-free. We’re so grateful to have chosen The Merlin for our big day. Our stay at the Merlin, Alderley Edge was excellent from start to finish. Prior to our stay we were contacted by the hotel and informed that there was not hot water due to a burst pipe. We were given the option to cancel but we decided to go with our booking. Price of room was adjusted to reflect inconvenience of no hot water. Room was clean, warm and had all facilities we needed. Comfortable bed. Location was lovely and near to Alderley Edge shops. We booked the wine and dine menu and the food and staff were amazing. Megan, Jemma and Brad served us our food and drinks and were all so friendly, polite and professional. Thanks also to Gary who welcomed us upon arrival - all the staff were excellent. Breakfast was delicious. Overall - a very, very nice stay - thank you !
Ideal location. The staff were friendly and helpful. It felt safe there, access vial a security key fob. The pillows were a bit too plump, two together made my neck uncomfortable. There were no options for cereal or porridge at breakfast.
friendly staff, great food, perfect for a relaxed family Sunday roast dinner! I recommend the delicious aged fillet steak with amarone wine!
The room was large and the bed very comfortable. We were worried that it would be cold, but the heating came on appropriately and the temperature was fine. The staff were all very cheerful,pleasant and helpful. They accommodated all of our requests, a jug of proper milk, an extra chair, replacing the batteries in the remote control efficiently. Given the room was so lovely and large some permanent armchairs would be a very useful addition as one chair between two people seems a bit odd. A couple of improvements. 1. No toilet brush in the bathroom ? 2. Perhaps we are old-fashioned, but having no choice of breakfast cereals and especially porridge, seemed very disappointing for the time of year. Also since the inclusive breakfast was not cheap, should not toast be offered routinely along with all other options, although it was provided quickly on request. And why always sourdough! 3. Lots of disposables, no sign of any recycling at all.
Stayed in a room that was a little cramped and decor dark. But could still see drink splashes on wall. I found bed very hard and for a double not very big. However staff at breakfast very helpful, shame no longer have pastries or cereals but cooked options well cooked. Dining & bar areas could do with refurbishment.
* The room and bed were comfortable, nice, large & clean bathroom with good quality shower (rain style) and good water pressure. * The staff were very friendly for check-in and in the restaurant (evening meal) and at breakfast * I had an evening meal and am a vegetarian but the the selection on the menu in the restaurant was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. * Location is very convenient for Manchester Airport (15 mins). * Access to hotel was easy and there was sufficient car parking space(s) on site * Price for the room was very reasonable * The hotel's decor and carpet looked a bit tired and worn, and could do with an upgrade * All things considered, I would definitely stay there again if I was travelling via Manchester Airport and needed to stay somewhere local overnight.
