No laundry. The nearest is 30min walk one way most likely in the rain since its machester. So dont expect your clothes to be dry by the time you make it back. Also no curtains on the bed and no soft close on the door of the room i was in. The shower is a weak trickle. Counterproductive to their environmental goals as it took so long for me to try and rinse the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair. Very small beds with a tiny shelf for things to fall off on the top bunk For the price, I'd expect a better stay.

The reception staff were polite and very helpful. The room was warm and clean and the availability of a bicycle shelter was a very useful feature. Overall it is a really good hostel

The staff at the hostel are very friendly and helpful. I was staying with a large group of colleagues for our annual Winter trip, and the hostel had everything we needed. It was clean, the beds were comfy and the breakfast was great. The location is very convenient and the area and hostel itself feels very safe.

Overall I had a good experience. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. On arrival, the staff member who welcomed me wasn’t very friendly and didn’t give clear answers to my questions. I expected a warmer welcome. Luckily, other staff I met later were much more friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. Some common critiques people mention are true: bathrooms are small, showers can make the whole area wet, and towels are extra. Apart from that, it delivers what you’d expect from a hostel, with a good location. If the first impression from staff was warmer, it would be even better.

YHA Manchester is an example of how a good hostel doesn't have to cost a lot. Large, bright and airy room for four people. The beds were solid, the only thing missing was curtains on the bunk beds for more privacy, but that's a minor detail. The bathroom was a good size, clean and looked new. The common areas are large and beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location near a train and tram station is great for a city the size of Manchester. The hostel has a view of part of the river canal, and having breakfast with this view was a bonus. I would definitely stay at this hostel again

Stayed here for a few nights as it was cheapest I could find and had stayed in other YHA hostels before. They always amaze me how they keep the same standard through all their places; friendly staff, great rooms and cheap food+drink. Location is in an awesome place and has a great view of the canal. Only a 5-10 minute walk away from all the shops too!

We stayed NYE. Amazing place, staff were friendly and helpful. Place was lovely and super clean. Loved the location next to canal and easy walking distance to city centre. Food was amazing, great value. I had the Mac n cheese which was tasty and came with salad and fries. The smoothies were to die for, much needed health boost the morning after! Car park facilities were free and they allowed us to stay till midnight following day meaning we had chance t chill the next day and sober up before driving home. Will definitely be returning for more Manchester gigs!

Love youth hostels. The atmosphere is amazingly friendly and warm and welcoming. The common area is great. The location is amazing and the breakfast was delicious. The rooms are clean. The beds aren't brilliantly comfy. But it's still brilliant for the price.

A great hostel, with bar and breakfast. We arrived around mid-night and the bar was open for beers and food, which was awesome. The bedrooms were super clean and warm. The bathroom didn’t have pressure on the watwr and was small, but it was inside the room so we didn’t have to go to the one at the end of the corridor.

From check-in, we were welcomed at this location by its staff. It was my first time staying in Manchester when I stayed at this YHA location. It was a good spot to really take in the character of the city (mainly its proximity to the canals). The hostel has pretty much everything you need such as a kitchen, hang-out area (in the main floor near check-in), luggage room, etc. Our room was alright, we had plenty of storage and our own bathroom with a shower. My only suggestion for the future is to include a step or a platform to reach the bathroom floor (as the entrance is above the ground) as it's a bit difficult to do so without nearly tripping, especially at night. Any stores you need to get to are within walking distance (about 5-10 minutes) along with the tram station. There's also a bus stop, restaurant, and a museum nearby.
