Can only be described as a dump!! Filthy sheet on bed ,room was dirty and as for towels we were given ...absolutely horrendous!! We left within 10 minutes of arriving ,I couldn't possibly sleep in that . Avoid at all costs!!

I don’t ever leave bad reviews as I never want to tarnish a business and always give the owners the benefit of the doubt. I will always assume that this is just a one off. I hope that the owner reads this comment as an honest review and look to change for the better. This is the worst property I have ever stayed at in my life. Actually so bad that we did not even stay the night and left before the morning. Ironically, after the shambles of a room/experience , It was topped off by not having instructions of how to check out or what to do with the room key. We came as we left…… lost. On arrival I was left gobsmacked at the state of the room. The room was left open, damp on the floor, mess on the worktops, blinds not covering the whole window, mould in the bathroom, cracked tiles, beds were paper thin and uncomfortable, no soap provided, no towels provided. I rang the owner and advised that the room did not have towels and that I had to request them. This was the first time that I ever had to request a towel. I was truly shocked when I entered the bathroom and found a pair of dirty knickers on top of the shower. I must say this is what led me to leave this review. The rooms have a lot of potential. But unfortunately need a major refurb and money spent on them. Please do not take offence. Just improve for the better of your guest and yourselves as hosts.

Not really worth 1 star. The room was horrendous. Filthy room unflushed toilet insects in the washbasin and very badly stained carpet. A long wait for somebody to let us in . There is no way we could have stayed there. We returned the key and said it was too bad to stay. The girl in reception said β€˜I only live here. I’ll tell them’ It was like a squat, the photos bear no resemblance to the place. Would advise people to avoid it, was disgusting.

The room was beyond dirty, cob webs everywhere, dusty, rusty nail sticking out of the wall in the shower, broken mirror, no toiletries, and no breakfasts! If you want to watch TV.... Forget it, signal is terrible! The beef was comfortable and clean though and the room was warm.

I wouldn't give it the one star, but it was cheap. It's advertised as a B&B but there is no breakfast. To be fair it does say this on their website, using Covid as an excuse. Mind you with the state of our room I wouldn't fancy their offerings. Their telephone manner had a lot to be desired. Monosyllabic Hello yeah what. Our room was dingy, with the shower room door hanging off its runners a reed infuser that was empty and dry, a collapsed bed puggy mattress and furnishings a charity shop would turn away. The photos say it all.

We were attending an early wedding at Merrydale Manor, and we able to dress and leave our bags in the room, by a helpful lady. That was the best bit of the whole experience, as it steadily got worse...the door wouldn't open or lock, the room was shabby, smelt of damp and had a general appearance of neglect. There was a kettle, random cutlery, crockery and two mugs...one of which was under the radiator catching a leak! We arrived back in the early hours, regretting our decision to stay and after a fitful sleep, a shower were I felt dirtier coming out than when I went in! We were glad to leave. It wasn't that close to Merrydale Manor and I regret staying...don't book this place...there isn't even any breakfast provided, which may have been a blessing!! We couldn't leave fast enough!

Pros: location, comfortable bed, staff responsive to request for towel that wasn't provided ("due to COVID"??), large shelf for storage in bedroom. Cons: musty smell, state of shower (see pictures), not particularly clean, tiny sink, unmanned reception (though someone arrived quickly after we called them). Conclusion: probably not worth the Β£55 per night unless you need the location. Caveat: this review relates to room 1 in April 2022, though I have no reason to think other rooms are any different.

I was not expecting a high standard as I had read previous reviews. We took the whole B&B as we were a large family attending a local wedding. It very nearly ticked a lot of boxes but fell very short of meeting standards. I was not sure my bed had not been slept in, the mattresses were appalling, and the shower room dilapidated (the Lino floor sort of collapsed into the area the pipes went down). We had no soap or toilet paper or towels and I texted to ask for some (as I had to leave for the wedding) but they did not arrive! All that being said my nephews room next door had better mattresses and my mothers bathroom had a better floor! We had a BBQ breakfast which we supplied in the morning. We had fun despite the rain. The staff seem to be invisible. Check in not easy, and one is made to feel a pain trying to get a towel and toilet roll. We were given a late check out but this info had not been given to the staff on the ground which lead to bad feeling as we were leaving. It could be so much better with not that much investment/effort.
