Brilliant food, brilliant atmosphere, brilliant everything. Couldn't have picked a better location for a quiet Christmas dinner and neither could my companion. Top marks, absolutely will be returning in the new year.

Booked for lunch at 12.30pm for three persons in the restaurant on Friday the 28th of November. The restaurant wasn’t available so shown to a table with a badly ripped seat which was off putting. No lunch menu available and I asked. The tables weren’t aligned and the seats were uncomfortable. We had lunch which was ok. Toilets could do with a good freshen up. Rose Prosecco was basic for £32.00. A napkin would be nice as we self poured. Service was ok but then inattentive, probably as we were in the bar area rather than the restaurant. I won’t be going back due to these issues. Unpleasant stale smell on arrival and stools on tables as if the pub wasn’t ready for guests. This was disappointing as I had chosen this pub for our lunch meet up. Lovely open fire in the bar area.

Having visited this pub/dining venue for the first time and after also reading the reviews. I was looking forward to a good quality meal along with service. Firstly I ordered around of drinks for my family. Which was taken by very well presented waiting staff, who were also very polite and helpful. After being given a jug of ice and water on our arrival. We proceeded to mull over the menu and await the arrival of our drinks. After ordering from menu. to which they had a good choice of roast dinners with trimmings. After ordering a roast beef dinner, I asked if I could have an additional Yorkshire pudding and gravey. My family all opted for the sea bass. As we all awaited for ourfood to be cooked and served. I then realised that 30 minutes had passed, since I originally ordered our drinks. On inquiring to find out where the drinks were. They had completely forgotten about the drinks order. But said as an away of apology, that the wouldn't charge for the drinks. Now the on the arrival of our dinner's, perfectly cook sea bass and trimmings. Which my family really enjoyed. But here comes the but, my roast dinner looked great in appearance except for the Yorkshire puddings. There were a very dark brown and hard to the touch. Disintegrating when you try to cut into them. I question this to one of the staff only to be told. That there probably baked it in the morning and by the time I got it reheated by 5.30 pm it was rock solid. Could it get any worse I thought to myself. Well the lovely looking piece of roast beef. That adorned my plate lying over the the freshly cooked green spring cabbage and mange tout beens. Along the fresh carrots and roatèd parsnip and roast potatoes. Looked good enough to eat and they were. But the star attraction unfortunately the roast beef was not. It was very stringy which made it hard to cut through. I again mentioned this to same staff member as to whom I mentioned about the Yourkshire pudding being hard. Only to be told yes it can be a bit stringy So rather than replace the beef or offer an alternative, she then turned around and proceeded to walk of. I would have given 5 Stars but for the reasons mentioned above.

came here for the first time, after looking for somewhere to have a roast for mother's day. we had booked a table beforehand. we were seated quickly upon arrival. service was lovely and a jug of water for the table was offered. food came quickly after ordering. food was delicious. we ordered the sides of pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese and stuffing balls-generous servings for 4 people to share. will definitely be returning. only downside is that it is a small carpark

First time visit, Atmosphere was lovely and warming, did expect a bit more of a Christmassy vibe - like music , crackers on tables etc Staff and service was brilliant, made sure we were ok, no wait time , very kind and polite The food was amazing, the Duck leg and the pork belly roast were yummy - lots of food - I think it’s the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time. Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon

Pizza was decent, but as you can see from the picture, there was only 4 tiny pieces of pepperoni on my pizza, and for £15 you don't expect such small portions! Disappointed, staff are lovely and decor is nice but they need to work on the food quality or lower the price.

Lovely atmosphere, great food, staff friendly and welcoming, we came in a group of 5 with an elderly family member (don’t tell her I said that) and a very well behaved dog for lunch, we were accommodated with suitable seating with no fuss. Food was excellent. Booking system was easy and useful to have a note section to declare any extra requirements. Would 100% recommend, will be returning regularly.

I'm torn regarding the Retreat/Citron Brasserie. The positive points at lunch time for us, the food was magnificent! Between us, we enjoyed a lovely Mushroom soup, Coq Au Vin, Duck, Lemon Possett & Bread & Butter Pudd. All delicious, compliments to the Chef. Decor, toilets all beautiful. Waitresses of which there were two, were very pleasant and well meaning, but inexperience did show. There was an overly long time where we were left standing, waiting to be seated, for our 1.30 booking. Then followed a lengthy period before any order was taken, even for drinks. A feeling of "chaos" when the restaurant was not overly busy. Our barely used napkins were removed from the table for some reason, when our pudding arrived. There was an on & off very noisy power drill being used very near the restaurant area, which does nothing for the ambience of a nice French bistro lunch. No one asked if we enjoyed our food. Little touches that would add to the experience, were amiss. I think a bit more attention to detail outwith the food, could make Citron Brasserie a regular place to eat.

Have just enjoyed the seared seabass with ratatouille and perfectly creamy mash potato. The pesto puree was drizzled delicately and each bite was a flavour sensation. The seabass melted in my mouth, but, ended with a lush crunch. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the brioche burger which was exceptional. We will be back. It is so nice to have such amazing food round the corner. Thank you Citron and the Retreat.

Not a bad pub. Went here for lunch. They do a good lunch deal. Inside there’s a nice atmosphere in the bar area and the restaurant. Outside there is seating and a car park for maybe 20 cars. The food was tasty but the portions quite small - looks at the pic of the fish and chips from the lunch deal. The fish looks more like a fish finger!
