Georgina was a lovely waitress — friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our visit. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and was always happy to help with a smile. Her service really added to the overall experience. Thank you, Georgina!

My five friends and myself chose this venue for our Xmas meal get together on 3/12/25. On arrival we were informed that the advertised Xmas menu was not available as the delivery arrived too late so they were unable to defrost anything in time for the evening session. Our first disappointment but then it went from bad to worse. When we were choosing from the normal menu we were informed that there was no fish and chips available, no peas and that the last beef burger had just been sold. Not a great start. The starter of prawn cocktail with smoked salmon was ordered by two of my friends but as don’t like smoked salmon I asked if I could just have a normal prawn cocktail. This arrived but the taste of smoked salmon was very strong. So they had obviously just lifted the slice of smoked salmon off my starter. Not good. My friend also received her starter without the smoked salmon. So her order was incorrect. One order of a medium rare steak was stone cold. The one replacing it although hot was rare and bloody. So my friend left most of it. We complained to the waitress assuring her we had no issue with her and asked to speak to the manager. The waitress came back and informed us the manager wouldn’t come to see us but we were to tell her of our complaints so she could relay them to the chef. We were offered either free desserts or a bottle of wine and a gin and tonic free. We chose the alcohol. We each paid £42 for this very disappointing meal and the very bad response from the manager. Needless to say we will not be going back to the Colney Fox.

Great pub and place to stay, food was great and the staff are brilliant. The chap who checked me in was so helpful and friendly, carrying my case up the stairs for me. I was staying solo for work and had booked a table for dinner and Gina was so lovely! She found me a tucked away little nook where I felt really comfy, she didn’t rush me through the meal where often places do when you’re on your own and she was really friendly and welcoming. I’ll stay here again simply down to the staff. Thank you

I've called in before when staying in the area and on.that occasion I gave 1 star. Now, any person revisting a pub/restaurant would hope thay they have learnt from previous poor reviews. Clearly not. The chicken burger was dreadful. It's probably the poorest example I've ever had. The bun was dry, not even toasted. The amount of chilli jam was almost non-existent. The chicken burger was burnt and uneditable. The chips were lukewarm. I'll stop there as the service was no better. In the end, I had to ask for a refund as I've never had such poor quality of food. Images are to highlight how poor the quality was.

A really nice and huge pub. This was our first time at this pub. We loved it. The food was very good, especially my rib eye steak because it was cooked to perfection. Our young waiter was the highlight, as he had the right amount of rapport combined with a want to provide a great service. And he did!

Food was good, great choice of drinks. Considering that you pretty much have to book in order to get a table for lunch, the staff could have been a bit more attentive. Post-meal drinks took forever to come out, cups of tea were half-filled. If they take bookings, they should take the amount of tables into account - definitely did not seem like this was the case on our visit.

Great place for a celebration. Martin and his team went out of their way to make sure Dora’s 40th celebration was the best ever. Delicious food and service second to none. Can’t thank you all enough. In passing Colney Fox is always warm and welcoming, and the a Sunday lunch was just perfect and hot and very tasty, loved the fact you can have as much gravy as you like, we had the triple roast no complaints at all.

A charmingly lovely pub after a stroll around London Colney. Stone floors wooden beams on the ceiling and various different sections to sit whether noshing or sploshing. Humans would be happy with a varied menu and their four-legged canine friends might be happy with the three dolly treats and bowls of water. At least three dogs during our visit, this is a popular pub with dogs. I'm a teddy that adores fish cakes; so I couldn't wait to tuck into the fish cake with poached egg and hollandaise sauce, accompanied with new potatoes and asparagus. The wonderfully creamy soft mashed potato coated in breadcrumbs acted like a fluffy sleeping bag to the the fish ( rather too little fish for my liking) but potato was so yummy that I will forgive them. The hollandaise sauce was simple without any sickly feeling it can sometimes have. It was a shame that the asparagus had the woody bit left on and overall what's showing signs of wilting. A busy staff is friendly and make sure that the dogs have water. A very nice pub, particularly if you are bringing the dog, or a teddy bear! Alright very welcome in the drinking area they are not in the dining area. Which is just as well I guess. I assume teddy bears are allowed in the dining area because we were with dog we eating this drinking area.

Wonderful service with great food. I haven't been for many years to the Fox, but was visiting with my Mum and we stopped by for a bite to eat. I had the Chicken pie. It was good. Friendly staff who helped us through our order as my mother had some dietary requirements. We'll certainly visit again.
