   I visited the Joiners today for lunch and ordered the tofu salad (£15). The tofu, sweetcorn, and chips were all nice. However, when I started eating the salad, I felt grit in my mouth — my first thought was that the leaves hadn’t been washed properly. I didn’t make a fuss, thinking maybe it was from the sauce. But on my very last bite, I found a rotten leaf. I quietly mentioned it to the waitress, who then insisted I speak to the manager. I explained I had to get back to work, but she said it would only take a minute, so I agreed — mainly so the kitchen could be informed, especially after recent UK news about salad-related food poisoning. The manager came over with a sarcastic smile and said, “We can’t give you a free meal just because of one bad leaf.” This was insulting for two reasons: I never asked for a free meal — your staff insisted I speak to you. My concern was food safety and proper washing, not compensation. He even mockingly offered me a “washed” salad as if that was a joke. As a local customer, I found this response extremely disrespectful and dismissive. I was simply trying to give helpful feedback to prevent a potential health risk. Instead, I left feeling humiliated.

   Food quality is really poor, burger was not very good and the fries were cold. But would definitely visit again for drinks as their beer garden is quite nice.

   Decided to come here to see what it was like after they renovated. Quite like the new look with good layout, plenty of seating, wood floors and generally a much nicer feel to the place. Only came for a drink on a Friday afternoon but plenty of people there and staff very efficient.
