   Strange to read the last review since our experience was the exact opposite. The Merry Fiddlers was a fabulous experience from beginning to end. Accommodating, attentive and friendly. Staff were all amazing, very friendly and made us feel so welcome. Food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was great and the really nice visually. Very hard to find this kind of level of service and food these days so will definitely be coming back. Will also recommend to friends. Thank you

   I’m really sorry to say that I did not have a pleasant experience at this restaurant today. Although the food was really nice, the atmosphere felt very awkward. We had reserved a table but was put in the corner of the bar area which was sad because the rest of the restaurant looked lovely and festive. But it was the service that felt very awkward, the staff of young people didn’t feel conversational at all and came across as very stuck up. There were no pleasantries like ‘was everything okay today’ when we got the bill etc, it felt so awkward that we couldn’t wait to leave. I understand if the festive period is more tiresome for the waiting staff, but part of the job is to deliver friendly service and make a nice atmosphere and it’s a shame that it felt like it ruined our meal.

   Lovely local place to visit...plenty of parking,right near to Epping..very reasonable price wise...food was excellent...had afternoon tea as a birthday gift...service was brilliant...lady that served us was very friendly and helpful. The bar area is dog friendly but not the tea section. But can order of the full menu in the bar area. A lovely visit,would highly recommend ☺️

   From the moment we walked into The Merry Fiddlers in Epping, Ellie set the tone for an exceptional experience. Her warm welcome, attentiveness, and genuine care turned our afternoon tea (and every moment after) into something truly special. The food was delightful — scones warm and fresh, cakes and finger sandwiches beautifully presented, every flavour well considered. But honestly, what elevated it was Ellie’s service. She anticipated our needs before we even asked: refilling tea, offering suggestions, ensuring everyone in our party (even with dietary preferences) felt completely catered to. She was professional yet charmingly friendly, making us feel like valued guests, not just customers. The venue itself is charming, clean and inviting, with a warm, relaxed atmosphere that invited us to linger. But it was Ellie who knitted it all together — service, food, ambience — into a flawless afternoon. If you’re looking for somewhere where every detail is cared for, where the staff truly go the extra mile (especially Ellie), The Merry Fiddlers is the place. We can’t wait to go back. Highly, highly recommended.

   We enjoyed an afternoon tea with glass prosecco today from Groupon. It was sooo delicious. Had a doggy bag for the cakes just enjoyed them after dinner. They were soo fresh & tasty. Didn't get the ladies name but she was lovely & friendly. Highly recommend. Will definitely be returning xxxx

   Afternoon tea for 14 adults and 2 kids. Great sandwiches and cakes, especially the scones. Kept the tea coming when pots were empty. Decorated our Birthday cake for us and cut it up for people to take home. Great service. Must try a meal there.

   Our daughter's 25th birthday was saved at the last minute by The Merry Fiddlers who managed to fit a table of ten in during the Christmas period after our original booking cancelled on us the day before. From the moment we walked in everything was perfect from the setting, to the service to the food. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, particularly Morgan and Gemma who made sure everything went perfectly. The food is stunning and had a great mix of dishes to keep anyone happy and the taste and presentation were equal to any fine dining restaurant in London. It was our first time here and we will definitely return as the whole evening was amazing and finished off beautifully by the picturesque setting in the deep snow that just gave the whole thing a very movie like feel.

   We had the dome with our two children. I highly recommend, staff are lovely the food was amazing and the decor was beautiful. The dome was all lit up at night, we had a heater, our own music and the sunset right behind us. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for a lovely night.

   Lovingly gifted an afternoon tea for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Lovely surroundings, pretty pub. Catered for all we needed but no handrails on steps inside, so we struggled slightly. Food was very tasty & plentiful, but floor needed a good sweep & clean as it was filthy, there was a random napkin on the floor & chairs are heavily stained. Nevertheless we had a nice time.

   Food was amazing, drinks a little top expensive £8 for a pino! Well recommend the trio of Lamb, waitresses we very accommodating, they also have pods that you can book, they looks great so may be next time. We'll recommend and we will definitely go back.
